As Harry turns back to Robin, the person watching from before scoffs in frustration. They'll have to try harder. They'll have to do it on their own, since the teachers are all so incompetent. They'll have to do it their way.
______________
It's been a week now. Nothing too crazy has happened, which surprised the four in the house. It mostly surprised the adults, but the two children were just happy to play.
Though one thing that the children began to notice was that some of the others had disappeared. They'd looked for Paige the other day, but she was nowhere to be found. Naturally, the two assumed that she was busy, but now they're a bit confused.
Since her disappearance, Tony and Colin had disappeared. Not a trace left of them. It was as if they'd just up and left.
"Maybe they took a vacation?" Y/N would ask Doi.
Doi would shrug every time they asked, since he didn't know. He had no better answer to throw out there.
Then one day, a few days after the last two disappearances, Harry was gone. Now the seriousness started to set in. Robin searched everywhere for him, inside and outside. He still wouldn't let Y/N and Doi out of the house, for fear of Shrignold or someone worse coming and getting them, so he searched alone.
It had been two days. Robin had no luck with searching. He tried to remain positive around Y/N and Doi, but they saw how worried and hopeless he was through his fake smile and positive words.
Y/N tried to reason with themselves. Harry just went to get something, is all. He went to the store. That's it. Traffic could be really bad today. It'll be okay soon, though, since he's probably on his way back now.
Y/N and Doi continued to play, hoping to take their minds off of it all.
Then, one day, Robin went out to search again. Hours passed, turning into a few days.
Robin was gone too.
Y/N and Doi were all alone in the house. The doors were locked. The windows were locked too. They still had food, so that was good, but they were terrified.
The two hid in the bedroom, hoping everyone would come back soon. They missed them. They tried to keep their minds off of it, but it all came crashing down when they looked at an empty bed or heard absolutely nothing in a quiet house.
They kept up their routine; waking up at a certain time, playing or sitting around, and then going to bed at a certain time.
Then one day, Y/N woke up alone.
Maybe Doi was already up? They checked the entire house. No one was there. Doi couldn't have gotten outside, but he was gone. The child didn't know what to do. Doi was gone. They were all alone now... all alone again.
They hated this feeling. The people that actually cared about them were gone. It was like a cycle, even before they met the man in yellow. They'd be fostered, then sent back for one wrong thing.
They'd watched the other kids in those houses do far worse and not be punished, but if Y/N forgot to put a single toy away, they were packing their bags and being ridiculed for being such a disappointment.
Some of the people who fostered them were nice people. They'd be cared for, fed, clean, and happy. Life would finally be turning around for this little orphan kid. And then, right as things were perfect, the family would have to move, or one of the parents would lose their job, and Y/N would have no choice but to go back to that hell, with the family showing the same level of apathy as if Y/N were just an animal being sent back to the pound.
Hell. That's what it felt like right now. Is this their hell? Loneliness? Is this what they're doomed to be until they die? To be alone in this house filled with reminders of the people who finally started treating them as a human being and not a prized show pet?
The child wouldn't eat much. All they ever did was sleep, eat, and shower. Whenever they weren't doing those things, they just laid on their bed and stared at the ceiling. Their thoughts would run wild, imagining scenarios where they would be happy with Harry, Robin and Doi, and not stuck in this godforsaken reality.
It was like this for days. They hated it. They hated how little noise there was. They hated being alone. They hated it. They hated it all. They just wanted to see them again.
The child closed their eyes again, fighting back tears, and slipped into the deep, dark unconsciousness.
The person who was watching from before smiled. Their plan was working. Now to collect the next piece to their plan... the little, helpless pawn.

Well! That took... quite a bit to get out there- I'm sorry for not publishing this sooner! I know this isn't much compared to other chapters, but I hope it's enough for now! :)
If you haven't checked my update in my conversation tab, it basically explains that I'm sorry for procrastinating this long and not saying anything. It also says that Family :D isn't over yet, and that it will be getting a sequel book!
I worked on an idea for it while procrastinating on Family :D so I'll be working interchangeably on both, so when Family :D is over, I can immediately publish the sequel book on a much better schedule! :)
Now I have to get ready to go back to school in about an hour since winter break is over now- ughhh-
Anyway! Thanks for putting up with me for so long, and have a good day/night, dear readers!
