"Hi mum, just a quick call before I get to my lecture. I'm a bit nervous to tell you. And no I'm not pregnant before you ask!" Saying with a laugh.
"Thank god you aren't! What's the news Riley?!" Beamed her mum.
"I'm thinking of dropping English and just need a bit of advice on it. I can't keep up with my youth work studies. I'm always at placement with the young teenagers so I can't fit anymore time for English study. It's hard to keep going with both; my main priority is the youth work. What do you think mum?"
"Do what you think is good for you Riley. If dropping English is what you want to do, don't let me stop you, and plus, you'd probably end up working in a school whether you had an English degree or not. One option is to sleep on it so you don't feel like you're making the wrong decision, or the other one is to just drop it. Whatever you decide to do, make sure it makes you happy. Okay?!" Although her mum was upset, she knew and felt it was the right idea.
"Yeah, I know mum, I think I've already made my mind up to be honest. I just wanted you to know."
"Thanks for letting me know Riley. I'll speak to your soon."
