A Home Lost To Fire and Ice (Cole x Zane) - Book 2 - Complete!

Chapter 2

It had been about three hours since Zane’s incident and the hellhounds disappearing and they had got word from Nya that Lloyd was on his way to the Storm Palace, Cole couldn’t help but grin as he took in the decorations around the whole room. Jay and Kai had really out done themselves this year speaking of the master of fire. Cole turned only to grin at Kai who had fallen asleep leaning against the wall with Zane leaning on him, the two brothers slept soundly despite Jay trying to get their attention. 

“How are we doing?!” Nya’s loud voice alerted them all to the water ninja getting closer with their surprising guest. Kai woke up only to shake Zane awake who could only blink as pain radiated through his body and although he didn’t show it. The other three guessed straight away that the master of ice was in pain whether it was from him tightening his fingers into fists or the way he clenched his jaw, Cole didn’t say much as he pulled Zane close into his side. 

The doors suddenly opened with a bright green glow and just as shouts of excitement happened, far away in the same realm a darkness had just entered ready to take down the light for good. 

“SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY LLOYD!” 

Lloyd didn’t know what to say as he noticed there were many individuals in the room ranging from his family, elemental masters, some from the Storm Realm while others from Ninjago itself. Even some royals were here, the Creta Kingdom royals were here and offering Lloyd the experience of a lifetime to spend a month or two learning about the kingdom he had wondered about so often. He accepted and eventually when he was ready all he had to do was see either Aaron or Neuro about it. 

Through all the chaos it took Lloyd a good ten minutes to find his adoptive parents, Cole pulled him in for a giant hug by lifting him in the air while Zane kissed his forehead passing over a small present. Lloyd took it with gratitude as he hugged Zane close to him, it was only then Lloyd could feel the heat coming from Zane’s head, he would be more worried if Morro hadn’t explained the events happening tonight and how they were messing with both Zane and Kai’s powers. So the two weren’t exactly well which meant their snowboarding present would have to wait a few days. Lloyd didn’t care as long as the two recovered. Even Princess Kim from the Cronix kingdom was here to show that it was possible to make new allies. Morro’s daughter Angelica was missing but she was off with Gale somewhere and the two sent their apologies, Lloyd only sent a message back politely.  

The party was thriving, Lloyd was having a blast. He hated being the centre of attention but he managed to put up with it as long as he had his eyes on his parents the whole time. Zane was currently at the table where his other children were, Arlo was sick and didn’t want to be anywhere but by his dad’s side, the other kids ran around like rascals while being overwatched by a paranoid grandparent or in other words Morro Storm. Even Sensei Wu, Misako and Garmadon had shown up per insistence from the Storm King, Misako was jealous but had realised her mistake years ago when she lied to her child. 

Everything was going splendid and everyone was enjoying their time when suddenly one wasn’t. A darkness like no other shook the Storm palace, Zane let out a shout of pain alerting them all, Cole moved on the double to his husband only to gasp as the walls of palace cracked. Morro moved over to his son only for him to be shoved back by a force like no other. Someone grabbed him pulling him away from his son, it turned out to be Casey who shook her head especially when Kai collapsed beside his king. The fire and ice masters struggled through their pain knowing their loved ones would only get hurt if they came nearby. 

“DAD!” 

“KAI!” 

Lloyd and Nya cried out running over to them only for someone to make an appearance in between the two masters and the rest of them. A darkness like no other covered the room, Morro groaned to himself when an individual materialised in front of them all. Cryptor appeared in front of the group making a barrier beside Morro.
