[Feels Like by Gracie Abrams]
Oscar winner Katie Coulson was in her kitchen with a cup of coffee, staring out the window of her penthouse in Los Angeles in the same clothes she had slept in. Her hair was longer than it had ever been before, and she let it fall on her shoulders as she heard padded footsteps from behind her.
"Good morning," the voice mumbled into her neck after brushing her hair out of the way. Katie smiled and held up a cup of coffee for them to take, made with just the right amount of cream and sugar.
"Sleep well?" She asked, letting to cup go into the other person's hands now that they had removed themself from holding her in a groggy embrace.
"I always sleep better next to you," the woman replied surely. She was right, Katie did too. They lived together, but weren't always home at the same time. Between Katie's filming and promo and Theodora's tendency to take night shifts at the hospital.
Much to Margaret's absolute delight, Katherine had been dating a doctor- a resident, but still a doctor. It had been going well for two and a half years, almost too well to the point that Katie was worried about the sustainability of being so happy. Katie had met her through Audrey, she was a couple years older but she had gone to the same college Audrey did (they were sorority sisters at one point) and they'd hit it off immediately.
"Do you want to have breakfast now or later?" Theo yawned, rubbing her hand up and down Katie's shoulder warmly. She was taller than the actress, had dark hair and somewhat pale skin. She loved cooking, she loved plants, she was everything Katie wanted in a person really.
"In a bit," Kate replied, she took her left hand and reached across her front to grab the hand on her right shoulder. She kissed Theo's knuckles and the brunette chuckled softly at how Katie managed to get herself tangled up with both their arms.
"Hey, babe?" Theo sipped her coffee a few minutes later, resting against the countertop. Katie was reading a script she had just been sent over by the glass table near the large patio doors, her glasses on because her eyesight had rapidly declined over the last few years.
"Mhmm?" Katie looked up. She always got that tiny little smile when she saw the other woman, it was involuntary and even when they were in a disagreement it seemed to creep up on her.
"Do you want to get married?" Theo asked like it was a very casual question. Gay marriage had been legal for a few months, but even when it was announced they only had a small conversation over dinner on the couch about how great that was.
"What?" Katie looked at her properly this time, lowering the script down towards the table but not letting it go completely.
"Do you want to get married?" Theodora repeated, holding the mug with little blue stars on it between both her hands.
"Now?" Kate tried to clarify. She even went as far as to point at the ground as if Theo meant that very second, in those same clothes as they stood.
"Don't look so shocked, would you?" Theo laughed nervously, "I was just standing here looking at you and I realized I want to marry you."
"Hold on," Katie took a deep breath, her eyebrows knit, "That's not a 'do you want to get married', that's a will you marry me?"
"Yes, I suppose it is," Theo smiled with a nod. She set the mug down on the countertop behind her, stepping towards the actress and taking her hands, "It's no grand sunset proposal... but will you marry me?"
"I can't believe that's how you asked me," Katie laughed when she nodded as well. Theo grinned, her shoulders dropped with relief and she pulled Katie into a tight hug.
