Chapter 14

On the morning of our first real day in Los Angeles, we woke up with a bit of jet lag. Mexico was almost two hours behind and now I'm still a little bit tired. I slowly blinked myself awake and looked at the sun just rising over LA. I looked around Tom's huge room and see the open door into the living room with floor-to-ceiling windows.
In the living room from the hotel room, I hear Tom on the phone before it went silent and he came back into the bedroom. As he's standing in the door frame our eyes met. "Good morning baby, did I just wake you up?" "No it's fine, it was the sun on my face." I replied with a sweet smile. "Okay...I already ordered a big breakfast. Should be there soon. Tea for me, coffee for you and lots of food!" Tom said happily sitting on my legs under the duvet at the end of the bed.
"What did the doctor say yesterday?" Tom asked now.
I didn't know what to answer - Should I tell him now? Was it now the right time?
Lost in my thought I was quite a bit shocked when Tom suddenly got up and headed for the door. My eyes followed his movements as he walked away from the bed.
"Thank you!" I hear him say to probably the hotel employee. A little later he drove through the door with the food truck. "My lady, I present you with your breakfast. What would you like, Madame?" Tom asked me now quite politely and formally.

After breakfast and lunch at the restaurant with the film crew Rachel, Louise and I met in the lobby.
In the city, we get out of the cab and began to go through the city together. In a shopping mall, we strolled through the shops and I enjoy the girls day. I hadn't had a shopping trip like this in a while and we enjoy the time outside our
usual working environment. After a while, we took a short break in the cafe.
My thoughts revolved around the baby. How was I supposed to tell Tom?
"Phoebe, what's up?" "You're so distracted!" "What? Yes, it's just that a friend in London has become a mother and I don't know what to give her!" I replied. It wasn't a lie but I let out the fact that the baby is already a month and a half old. "How about clothes?" Louise asked. "Yeah! You can always use it! There was a baby store at the entrance!" Rachel said and took a sip from her drink.
"Okay then we'll go in there and then back to the hotel!" The three of us then make our way toward the exit to the baby shop.
It was a mistake to enter this store - all little cute things for kids. Little dresses with tulle and tops with dinosaurs, hair bows, pacifiers and....
"OMG look at these little sugar-sweet shoes!" I exclaimed enthusiastically. "It's so cute and look at those little tops and jackets!" Rachel said. Pretty quickly we found several bodies, a teddy bear, a hat and cute shoes. I paid for the things and the employee from the store packed everything in a box. Finally, she packed the box in a light blue paper bag and handed it to me.
Satisfied, we left the mall and drove back to the hotel. We said goodbye to each other before we went to our rooms for a short time to get our bathing suits. I went to my room and opened the box with the baby things. I quickly got one of the unused pregnancy tests out of my suitcase and went into the bathroom with it. I came back with the test done and threw it on the bed. I knew the result and changed my clothes at the time. Then I put the positive test in the box and pushed it deep down into my suitcase. As I closed the door behind me, I met the two of them. Together we took
the elevator to the wellness area on the top floor. Rachel and Louise had booked a massage and while the two enjoyed their massages I sat in the whirlpool and enjoyed the calm and soothing bubbling of the water. We chatted briefly, but most of the time it was quiet. I leaned on the edge of the hot tub and watched the hotel guests in the pool on the other side of the glass screen out on the roof.
A while later the door swung open as Harry and Max came into the wellness area. "It's good that we meet you here! Because of Tom's birthday tomorrow, is there anything you can do to distract him? So I can pick up Haz, Sam, Paddy and our parents?" Harry asked me as they both come into the hot tub. "Yes, of course, I can do it. When are you about to pick them up?" "They're about to land at 9 am." "Yeah, I
should be able to do that. Tom always has a long breakfast and I'm sure many people will congratulate him!" I said and Harry nodded at me. "Well, I know that tomorrow Tom's shooting will be shorter and then the Spider-Man cake will be gifted to him on the set!" Max gave out the information. After their massage, Rachel and Louise came to us and together we plan a bit more about Tom's birthday tomorrow. Rachel was supposed to get him into makeup earlier in the morning so that everything could be prepared.
After we had discussed everything we went back to our floor together and from there we went our own way but I could walk with Harry a little longer because our rooms are across from each other. "What are you doing today?" I asked Harry. "I go to bed early! Have to leave early tomorrow!" He replied, but fell silent as Tom approached us. He came towards us with sweaty clothes and a towel around his neck. "Did you have fun? While I had to work hard?!" "Sure, always, but swimming always makes me terribly tired. I'm going to bed now, see you tomorrow!" His brother said and holding his room card in front of the lock. We wished him goodnight before he closed his door. "Okaaay?! That was pretty weird just now. Since when does he go to sleep
at 8 pm without eating?" "He already ordered food at least that's what he said." I said to Tom after a short shrug. Together we went down to the restaurant to eat. There was no buffet here - too bad, only after the menu, it went through my mind. We sat down with the Russo brothers, TH and BC. Luckily there was still no sign of Marie. "Wow, your boss is a true gentleman!" Anthony said as Tom pulled the
chair out for me. "Tom, you're a real Casanova!" Joe said laughing. The whole situation was more than embarrassing to me and I was grateful for Benedict's
quick change of subject. "Stop it, Phoebe's already blushing!" Hiddleston said
jumping in on the change of subject as well. "Sorry, we didn't want to cause you any inconvenience!" The brothers apologized. "It's okay, everything's fine. Can we start eating now, the food smells amazing!" I said while the waiters placed down your food. Happy and hungry, I grabbed my cutlery and we started to eat while the
brothers talked about the past days of shooting and upcoming dates.
After the meal, Tom had an online interview. I actually had today off, but since Harry was already asleep, I had to be present at the interview to help Tom with the technology. I quickly got my tablet and met Rachel in front of Tom's door. Rachel had a garment bag with his clothes for the interview and I greeted her when someone from the lighting team opened the door for us. We enter the room and 'wander' around in the unfamiliar room. My boss was sitting on the sofa drinking tea.
"Tom?! Get up and move now!" I said and he winced a little. "We don't have time to make a tea party now. Get dressed for your job!" Finally, he got up and took the garment bag from Rachel and went into the bedroom.
A little later he came back to us. "OMG Tom put your pants on!" Rachel called and I looked up from the tablet. Tom stood in the doorway, fully dressed on his upper body
in long sleeves on top and only underpants and socks on the bottom. I had to bite back a grin and looked at him questioningly. "It's so warm in these pants. I'll just sit
anyway, no one will notice!" He said, shrugging his shoulders.
While I was talking to the lighting guys, Rachel did a quick make-up for him. Tom started his interview while Rachel and I sat in the living room next to another room in the hotel room. We watched the interview on TV. The technicians broadcast the recording live on TV in the living room but we didn't need the sound because we could hear Tom next door. Rachel and I sat on the sofa and drank tea while following the interview.
Suddenly Tom got up to change into his outfit, he put his leg on the chair
and laughingly presented it to the camera. I looked at Rachel who just shook her head. "That can't be true!" She whispered to herself. I started laughing to myself and now Rachel was laughing too. Ops - now we could be heard and hear Tom say: "Over in the living room, through this door, my brother is lying on the sofa and is watching TV and probably snuggled up in a blanket." Luckily our laughter wasn't too loud and we slowly calmed down again. The interview, after several questions about the new Marvel movie and more questions about other movies like Uncharted, tipped to questions about the completion of filming. "So after Uncharted what are your plans? Any new films or other projects?" Josh Horowitz asked him. "After the shooting, which will continue for about two months after this tour, I'll take a break first. I've been on the road since Homecoming and haven't had much time for myself or my family. Maybe travel with my brothers and friends. Let's see what time brings with it.." Tom now answers. "Thank you Tom. Hope you have a nice birthday tomorrow and we wish you good luck for the rest of the tour and we hope to hear from you again soon. Ladies and gentlemen, the new Marvel film has been in theaters since the end of April, enjoy watching it. And thank you for watching the two of us. Have a nice evening and see you tomorrow!" He ended the interview and after this, the technicians rushed In and began to dismantle the setup. Tom came over to us and stood behind the sofa. "You should have put on pants!" Rachel said turning to him. Tom just shrugged and got a water bottle. Rachel and I got up and said goodbye to Tom. "Good night ladies!" He said and disappeared into the bathroom. We left the room and went to our rooms. We hugged each other again to say goodbye and then we went parted ways. I locked my room behind me and slipped off my sneakers. Tired from the shopping trip and the interview appointment. I put on my pajamas and tumbled into bed. Faster than I thought - once again alone without Tom for a long time I fell into a deep sleep.
