NETEYAM'S POV

'Stay here,' Mai speaks with a wild look in her eyes.
I look down at my little brother as blood pours out of his side.

It's just Lo'ak and I now, but I may as-well be on my own.

'Bro, bro, stay with me bro.' I shake Lo'ak's face whilst his eyes roll back and forth. I can see him fighting to keep them open.

'You're doing great' I smile through my tears holding his head in my lap. He lets out coughs which shatter my heart as I hear them getting weaker by the minute.

'It hurts Tey'em' Lo'ak splutters. His eyes squeeze shut as a single tear rolls down his face falling onto the ground.

'I know Lo'ak, we are going to get you out of here soon, dads gonna come' I reassure my brother wiping my tears. I must be strong for him. Lo'ak let's a weak laugh out.

'You've always been the favorite you know, the best big bro to our sisters. The best son to our parents. The mighty first born. Dads not gonna come.'

I choose not to reply at his comment and chew my lip anxiously instead. It's hard for me too, having to live up to such expectations.

'I love her Tey'em' Lo'ak says his eyes still shut. I nod knowingly running my hand over his hair.

'I know bro, I know' I whisper back.

'I should have told her sooner. Now I might not get a chance.' More tears roll from Lo'ak's dim eyes.

'Don't say that, you make that a reason to fight you hear me?' I say aggressively towards my brother. He cannot give up now.

'Promise me you'll tell her if I don't make it.'

'You're going to make it Lo'ak'

'Promise me?'
I sigh,
'I promise.'

Moments later Mai appears with my dad and he takes Lo'ak away to get him help.

I finally slump staring at my baby brothers blood covering my hands. I watch them shake before me.
I finally let myself go and break down to Mai.

I cannot lose him, I cannot lose my only brother.

Please great mother, let my baby brother be okay.
