Zaratorio: The Story Continues
Part Seven

The chrono-capture has proceeded smoothly. At first, all that can be seen is a stainless steel box, but then the computer programme self-initiates and a holograph appears.
'Greetings. My name is Holopath. I am a holographic replicant of Admiral Rosanna Pathway of the Terran Cosmic Battle Fleet. I am programmed with all of her life experience and technical knowledge, but I don't share her sense of humour or taste for curry.'
Lauren smiles.
'Greetings, Holopath. I am Dr. Anton Koval, deputy director of the Slavic Institute for Studying the Paranormal. Professor Jessop should be here shortly.'
'Ah yes ... the Admiral met both of you on her previous visit.'
Paulina enters the rear of the EVM Control Hall with a weary looking Amber following on behind.
'Greetings, Holopath. Not as pleasant as meeting the Admiral in person, but I am sure your expertise wil be invaluable as we search for Mark Smith in the time vortex.'
'Thank you, Professor. I believe that if we create a holographic version of the ECM 'timeship' that you were travelling in – but this time with much more sensitive instrumentation – we will have a much better chance of replicating Mark's disappearance, and therefore of finding him.'
Amber and the others soon agree to Holopath's proposal and they all set to work to 'make it so'.

'Inga! I have been using Sonyakolo to conjure some visions, and it seems that the wretched SISP are working with Pathway to rescue Mark Smith and defeat my plans', says Zaratorio.
'Surely not, master. I am certain you will triumph in the end.'
'Well, of course you are right, but the situation is not as imagined it. I think I am going to let them have Smith, while I work on my plan to create a great time storm that will force all the different time-travellers to treat me seriously.'
'Do you intend to recapture Harnii Smith as well?'
'Of course – she is the key to so much of what I need to achieve.'

Sometime in the late thirteenth century CE.
Béla's Hungarian ancestry has always made him into an object of slight suspicion amongst his fellow clergy, although he holds a highly responsible position as one of the deacons at the Cathedral of the Dormition in the Galician/Ukrainian city of Halych.
His favourite pastime is astronomy, but even he is perplexed by the sheer number of meteor showers over the last few nights. Now the moon has started moving from West to East, and from time to time he seems to be able to pick out a strange image of a bearded man holding a staff high up in the night sky.
