Zaratorio: the Story Continues
Part Thirty-five

'Good work, Inga', says a grateful Zaratorio.
'Circe's affinity spell does seem to have reduced some of my powers, although I am sure they will return at any vital moments. Fortunately, your chrono-senses have confirmed what mine were already telling me, namely that Sehzula is sheltering in the Temple of Hathor at Memphis.'
'So, do we head north in search of Sonyakolo, the Ring of Power, master?'
'We certainly must, Inga, we certainly must.'

'Do you remember when I rescued you from Zaratorio's dungeon, Anna?'
'It's an event I'm not likely to forget, Paulina.'
'Well, as you know, I was not born a biotemp but I have somehow acquired time-travelling powers through interaction with the wizard.
Anyway, I'm really sorry that we have been mysteriously catapulted back to Eastern Europe in the tenth century of the Common Era, or as my people would say, the Christian Era – or even just "Anno Domini" !!'
'I agree, and given that we did not have any SISP technology to help us blend in, it has been very strange visiting the land of the Buzhans with only a few rags to wear ...'
'But you look very good in them my love ... although you must hide the sunglasses when we reach the next village.'
'Over the next hill?'
'Probably, although I am just having another of my intuitions. We need to stop and rest for a while.'
Anna holds Paulina's hand while the Buzhan warrior composes herself.
'Sehzula is in danger. A long way away, both in time and distance, but definitely in danger.'
'From Zaratorio?'
'Almost certainly, yet something tells me that Circe is more likely to be behind our current predicament.'
'So, what can we do? Or more precisely, what can you do?'
'Well, I believe that we will have to enter the time vortex. You will have to come with me, like you did before, although it is very dangerous, as you have no powers of your own. But I can hardly leave you here in the land of the Buzhans. We must prepare ...'

Somewhere in 'the far future', Circe is feeling rather annoyed with herself.
'Why, oh why, did I use an affinity spell to fight Zaratorio? Because now the cosmic affinities are bringing back together all those whom I wanted to force apart.'
***
The flood waters are creeping ever closer to the Temple of Hathor, and Sehzula is becoming ever more frightened. Even the guardian monkeys seem to be slipping away, and she knows that she must make a decision.
'If I activate Sonyakolo, I will have the ability to resist, but then Zaratorio will definitely know where I am!'
