-Friday June 16th-
"Milena, you gotta wake up." I heard Alannah say. I opened my eyes and instantly closed them. My cream curtains were open, and the sun was pouring through the large castle windows, blinding my eyes.
"Five more minutes." I mumbled into my silky cream-colored pillow.
"Girl, it's already three o'clock. You slept for over twelve hours."
"Ugh." I groaned, still not lifting my head from my pillow.
"I brought coffee and toast."
"Fine, I'm up." I mumbled, turning over. I sat up in my bed, stretching my arms and legs. The sun was still slightly blinding, but my eyes were slowly adjusting. And I had to admit I had the BEST sleep of my life last night. But I guess that's what happens when the three or so days before you only got 3-4 hours of sleep. Also, the bed is super comfy, so that definitely helps. My bed is a queen sized bed with a white and gold frame like the rest of my furniture. My sheets are cream colored and my bed spread is green with gold zentangle patterns.
"When's the ball?" I asked, sliding on my glasses.
"In three hours." Alannah responded. That's when I notice that her hair was already done into a gorgeous half up hairstyle. Half of her hair from the front was twisted to the back, a few pieces left to frame her face, and her dirty blonde hair fell in elegant curls, which probably took a lot of time and hairspray to look that perfect. She had yet to do her makeup and put on her dress and jewelry, but her hair already looked amazing.
"So I have three hours to get ready?"
"Yup." Alannah confirmed. "Someone is coming in an hour to do your hair. I said you would do your makeup yourself because I know you and you don't like when you're forced to wear too much makeup or your contacts." Whenever someone comes to do my makeup, they always insist I wear my contacts instead of my glasses. I don't even know why my mom still pays for my contacts. I never wear them. My glasses are more comfortable and I like them more.
"Sweet." I responded, sipping my coffee.
"I came in here to bring you something. I found one of my old silver tiaras and thought it matched your dress. It's in a light blue box on your bathroom counter." Alannah told me.
"You didn't need to bring me a tiara."
"I know." She shrugged. "I don't wear it anymore though, and I thought it would look pretty with your dress. Now I have to go finish getting ready. See you in a few hours."
"Bye!" I waved to her as she exited my room.
I flopped back on my bed and sighed. Today was going to be a very... interesting day. Don't get me wrong, I love going to balls and feeling like a princess for a night, but some people are just so... how do I put it? Ugh. A decent amount of the people who come are snobby dukes, duchesses, lords, ladies, etcetera. And a lot think it's beneath Alannah to be best friends with me, considering I'm a normal person from the United States. Apparently, being half Irish doesn't make up for the fact that I'm half American and have no royal status. So sometimes I can hear people say things about me and a few have been bold enough to say things to my face. Granted, someone is always there to back me up whether it's Alannah, Zach, Declan, Owen, Bridget, sometimes even Mr. and Mrs. Finnegan have heard the things said.
I will myself to get out of bed and I walked to the bathroom, clothes in hand. I take a shower since I probably haven't taken one since before I arrived, which for me is really not good because I have the world's oiliest hair.
When I got out of the shower, I put on a pair of athletic shorts and a loose tank top. I also twisted my hair into a bun. It's around four o'clock and the hairstylist probably isn't coming for at least a half hour.
