"Hey Milena!" Alannah said, walking into my room. I was sitting on my bed reading a book. After breakfast, I came up here to shower and change into one of my sundresses. My sundress was an emerald green color with a white floral pattern. The top of the dress was a smocked top with a square neckline and ruffle shoulder sleeves. The skirt was a gypsy skirt that had three layers and flowed down to my knees. I had blow dried my hair and did a loose side braid, which I tied with an emerald bow at the bottom.
"Hey Alannah." I answered, closing my book and setting it down on my nightstand. "Is there something you need?"
"Nope. Just came to hang out with the birthday girl." She said as she sat down on my bed.
Today was my 23rd birthday. This morning Alannah, Zach, and Declan hid outside my bedroom door and threw confetti at me when I left my room for breakfast. It's pretty much a birthday tradition now to wait outside the person's door and throw confetti at them and scream happy birthday.
"I'm sorry it's raining." Alannah sighed. "I had all this fun outside stuff planned because you love the gardens, but now it has to be moved inside." Alannah had planned a lunch picnic in the garden for my birthday and then she said she was also setting up for dinner to be outside in the courtyard.
"Alannah. It's fine. You can't control the weather." I said, reassuring her. "And I don't care about what we do today as long as I spend it with people I care about."
"I know." Alannah smiled. "But it still sucks that it's raining."
"Rain isn't all bad." I shrugged. "It makes the flowers and plants grow."
"And you think rain is pretty and romantic." Alannah laughed. Alannah's known about my affinity for rain scenes in my books. She's also knows that every time it rains Declan and I go outside and dance in the rain... and sometimes kiss. It's been about a year and a half since the first time Declan dragged me outside to dance in the rain. And almost every time it rains, we'll still go out and dance. We've gotten lucky that neither of us has caught a cold yet.
"Which I honestly don't understand how you think dancing in the rain is romantic, but whatever." Alannah shrugged.
I just shook my head and laughed. "Speaking of dancing in the rain. Where is Declan?" I asked.
"Don't know." Alannah shrugged. "I saw him in the hallway when I was walking down to your room, but he didn't tell me where he was going or what he was doing. I did catch him mumbling something about your birthday present, but I didn't hear much."
"Oh... Okay." I nodded. The past couple of weeks Declan had been acting weird and I've caught Alannah with her trademark 'I know something you don't' smirk. And I've seen Zach with a similar smirk. Declan and I were both extremely happy when they started dating a month ago. But it's only been a month and they've teamed up on us a lot, so Alannah most likely told him what she knows. Which leaves me completely in the dark.
Alannah was about to say something when I heard a knock at my door. I turned to look, and I saw Declan leaning against the door frame with his arms folded in front of him. He had on a white polo and black dress pants. And I had to admit, him leaning on the doorframe like that was really hot.
"Hey Declan, what do you need?" I asked.
"I think you know what I'm here to ask." He smirked.
"Hmmm." I said, pretending to think. "I might have an idea." A huge grin was plastered on my face as I hopped off my bed and walked over to him.
"Shall we M'lady?" Declan asked, holding out his hand for me.
"We shall." I said, taking his hand.
"First, I have something I want to show you." Declan said as we made it to the garden entrance.
