-Sunday September 10th-
It's been a week since Bridget and Owen left for school and it's been weird not having them sit at the table with us for meals, or hear them playing around in the halls, or practicing their instruments in the music room. Zach also left to go home yesterday, so the castle is even more quiet than normal. Usually Declan and Alannah keep me company, but Declan had fencing practice and Alannah had dance practice. Alannah doesn't have piano lessons anymore. Those stopped when she finished high-school but for some reason she and Declan still have dance lessons. I think after this year they are done with them, though.
Today is also a rainy day so I can't even go and paint outside. Which sucks because we only have a few more warm days left. Since lunch, I've just been curled up in my bed with coffee, reading a book, and listening to music. I can't handle long amounts of silence, so I usually have music playing quietly in the background. Today is definitely one of my lazy days. I don't really have any work to do because there is no big events in September, only thing would be the party that the Mycroft's hold on the 30th because it's Noah's birthday. But that's not a huge thing like the birthday balls for the royal family, so I probably won't start designing stuff and sewing till next weekend. My brother Isaac's birthday is tomorrow, but I already got him a birthday present and texted my mom to tell her I'm coming over for Isaac's birthday dinner tomorrow.
Maybe I'll paint something today if the rain lets up enough for me to go take some pictures for references. Looking up references on the internet is okay, but I like to paint things that I've seen in real life and not just in a photo online.
It was around four in the afternoon when I heard my door open.
"Dance practice is finally over!" Alannah exclaimed, flopping on my bed. "What are you up to?"
"Reading." I responded, closing my book.
"Tropes?" she asked. Alannah tries her best to read books but most of the time I just end up giving her rundowns of everything in my books.
"Enemies to lovers and grumpy/sunshine." I told her.
"You better tell me all about it later."
"Don't worry, I will." I smiled. "What should we do?"
"Watch a movie?" Alannah suggested.
"Sure." I find the remote to the TV in my room, which, surprisingly, I don't use that often.
"What movie?" I asked Alannah.
"The Princess Diaries."
"Good choice." I searched for The Princess Diaries and pressed play for the first one.
Alannah and I grabbed a throw blanket and a bunch of pillows before settling on my bed to watch the movie.
The movie finished right as the door to my bedroom opened again.
"Girls dinner!" Declan said, leaning against the doorframe. Declan and Zach have made it their job to remind us when meals are because otherwise we would forget and someone would have to come get us anyway.
"Coming!" Alannah and I responded in unison.
We hopped out of my bed and followed Declan down to the dining room.
Dinner went as usual. Mr. and Mrs. Finnegan asked us about our day, filled us in on what was coming up, and so forth. At dinner, someone was always talking. I liked how we didn't just eat in silence the whole time. There's always something to argue, talk, or laugh about.
Once we were all done eating, Alannah and I went to our rooms. Alannah just went to change into pajamas and so she entered my room a few minutes later. She settled back into where she was sitting before we had to go to dinner and I pressed play on The Princess Diaries Two.
