~Y/N's POV~

After taking a shower and changing into more comfortable clothing, I went straight to bed without pausing to consider what had just happened. I did this in the hopes that sleeping would allow me to put off dealing with my problems for just a little while longer.

When I awoke, I heard someone tapping on my door. It was dark in my room, which meant it was also dark outside because dim light would occasionally seep inside. The fact that I slept for so long astonished me, but I shrugged it off and got up. I sensed a presence behind the door that was hostile and obviously wasn't exactly friendly either, and I was hasty with my subsequent moves because I already knew where this was probably going. I opened it cautiously, and as I did, someone pushed it open with a lot of force, which knocked me back but not far enough to throw me off balance. When I looked the culprit in the eyes, I felt my shoulders sink and my heart stopped. My thoughts also began to race and became foggy, impairing my ability to think clearly. Despite the complete panic making my eyesight blurry, I knew it was him. That foolish diabolical grin on his face and that arrogant expression in his eyes always demonstrated how little he ever regretted his actions.

To be fair, I always tried so hard to forget what had happened in the past, but it was damn near impossible to do so. As a result, it was all just a faint memory. After what seemed like an endless stare-off, I felt his body abruptly crash into mine, and the same knife he had used to kill the only person I had been left to care about was now positioned to kill me. I didn't even try to fight back because there was no purpose; I just let it happen. And I felt my rage bubble up and scream out when I didn't feel the knife go through my throat and all I could see was the extremely fuzzy form of the man I detested with a burning passion.

As I slowly woke up from the horrific nightmare in a cold sweat and sat up from my bed, I could feel every inch of pain and every pound of grief hammered into that scream despite its lack of audible sound. Simply put, there weren't any more tears in my eyes, hence none were escaping. I sighed and muttered, "Just another dream," attempting to gaslight myself that the things he reminded me of were only dreams and that I should dismiss the trauma and move on.

After calming down, I finally looked around and saw that the sun was only just setting—it was only about 6:00 pm—but I already knew that this nap would be plenty to get me through the rest of the day because I seriously doubted that I would want to sleep again after this. After eventually getting out of bed, drinking some water, and glancing at my dog tags with drained eyes, I made the decision to go try and see what I could do to distract myself.

And for some strange reason, the first person who came to mind was Soap, especially after I gave him that black eye. This slowly brought back memories of what had happened just a few hours before, and I just groaned as I realized I now had two problems on my hands that I wanted to forget. While walking towards his room, I sighed. However, as I got closer, I overheard discussion coming from the REC room, which caught my ear. I kind of wanted to eavesdrop in case it was a conversation I shouldn't enter.

I could identify the accents of all three men, Gaz, Soap, and Ghost, as I drew nearer. In order to avoid being seen, I leaned up against the wall just outside the door and listened in as Gaz asked, "So, how was she?"

"Better than expected, but I didn't doubt her skills, nevertheless was rather shocked at how little information her files had on her skills outside of her most evident one," Soap's cheery voice responded practically immediately after.

"She mentioned how Shepherd never informed her about the lost missiles," I was taken aback when Ghost continued, "Something isn't adding up."

"Why wouldn't Shepherd tell her the whole point of this mission?" Gaz inquired, puzzled and inquisitive as Ghost simply grunted in response. I made the decision that this was my opportunity to enter the line. As all three of their heads turned to look at me, I noticed that Ghost's expression was, as always, unreadable.
