~Y/N's POV~
I jokingly said, "Yes, sir," And then, I just thought about the fact that this has been probably one of our worst fights in the past few weeks, but the most we've talked to each other and attempted to understand one another. As he was about to leave my room, Price suddenly opened the door. While he yelled at Ghost and I, specifically in my room, he didn't even appear to wonder why we were there, "You both, in my office, right now. I have information regarding the mission." He said this as he left Ghost and I still standing there. Ghost and I exchanged looks before walking away and making our way to Price's office to discuss the very fact that I am on this task force in the first place, the mission.
Ghost and I had to stand when we entered Price's office because Gaz and Soap had already occupied the available seats, I glared at them as Soap gave me a sheepish smile.
Price beamed as he sat in his chair and observed us. I decided to get comfortable and lean against a wall so that I could listen, and Ghost did the same by standing next to me. As I realized how much his attitude toward me has changed since I arrived here—whereas previously he couldn't stand to be around me and would avoid me at all costs, it now appears like he just can't get enough of me—I just smiled a little.
"We're here to discuss matters related to the mission. Unfortunately, on our last mission, we let our guard down and lost concrete evidence that may have led us to an actual lead since we were assigned to this mission. Despite some injuries, we managed to survive and learned from our mistake," As Price eyed me briefly, he continued, "Y/L/N is here to make sure we don't make the same mistake again," I nodded in response. He then paused and said, "We have a lead on where the men who ambushed us that night are."
"Go on, Captain, don't keep us waiting now," Soap spoke, curious to learn more, his Scottish accent was audible and strong.
"As part of a previous mission, we were successful in eliminating the target, General Ghorbani. Laswell and I have discovered that his second in command, Major Hassan Zyani, is trying to sabotage us. In the wake of our last stunt, they discovered our plan, and they are looking to eliminate us all. It's not just that they have eyes everywhere, but they also have valuable information for us. That's why they're fighting so hard to keep it from us."
"Laswell worked out where they are right now; they're in an abandoned warehouse, which has a lot of land to cover and a lot of locations for people to maintain watch," He said, giving me a fleeting glance, "We'll be pressing at night to catch them off guard, Y/L/N will be watching us like a hawk. We'll go in and out and get any documents pertaining to Hassan's next move."
I nodded as a thousand thoughts passed through my head. I was surprised by how well Laswell can do her job because when I first arrived, they were still unable to pinpoint the specific perpetrators of the attack, but now they have names and locations listed. When I turned to my side, I spotted Ghost staring directly at me. I just shrugged it off and continued listening to what Price had to say.
Taking the initiative, I asked, "When do we leave, Captain?"
"Tomorrow, just before dawn. We don't want to attract attention to ourselves by making a sudden motion that other guards might notice. So after parking the vehicle a few miles away, we will need to travel on foot. I'll have Gaz with me. We'll cover you while you gather the files, Soap and Ghost, so push to clear the building. Stalker will keep us informed of any vehicles that suggest a retreat or an ambush. In addition, you'll make sure that no guards are in our way who might see us."
We all agreed and nodded, "Get as much rest as you can before this mission—you're promised one more night—so take advantage of it."
I made the decision to stay in my room the entire time since, in theory, at least one more night of alleged peace was given to us. I was the first to leave and head down the corridor to evaluate the mission when Price dismissed us. When I felt a presence approach me from behind and heard the name "Y/N!" called out, my thoughts were immediately interrupted, I sighed and turned to confront Soap who tried to get my attention.
"Not trying to get away from us now, are you?" He asked, grinning at me. Before I saw Ghost and Gaz standing directly behind him looking at me, I had began to wonder what he meant when he said 'us'.
I tensed up a little and asked, "What's this about?"
"Well we don't want to tire ourselves by training before the mission, but we do want to be as prepared as possible. So we're going to make this enjoyable by playing capture the flag, and we need you to join in order for the teams to be even!" Soap stated cheerfully, he always had an optimistic outlook.
I instantly glanced at Ghost, wondering how they had persuaded him to play, then returned my gaze to Soap, "And if I say no?"
"You can't say no, you're playing," Soap remarked, and I noticed a sparkle in his eyes that warned me to just give up or else things would spiral out of control just to get me to play. Gaz also piped up, saying, "There's no getting out of it, Y/N, you're in."
I sighed in despair as I rolled my eyes, "Jeez, can I at least go take a piss?" I said as I started to leave, I was going to lock my room door and use this as an escape when suddenly I felt someone grip my wrist and realized it was Ghost.
I wasn't even able to react or speak before he started dragging me to the training field while Soap and Gaz laughed in the background. I had no choice but to accept my fate, so I didn't even try to fight against his grip.
As we arrived, his hold loosened, and I was a little annoyed, "Alright, let's just get this over with."
