~Y/N's POV~
As we arrived, his hold loosened, and I was a little annoyed, "Alright, let's just get this over with."
"Who pissed in your coffee today?" Soap asked as he turned to face me, I sent him a warning glare before he stopped talking and stated, "You two just wait while Gaz and I set everything up."
Ghost and I remained standing there while Soap and Gaz swiftly went to create a small obstacle for us and the flags.
I started to dissociate into my thoughts as I pondered Price's speech, the objective, and the potential ramifications of how badly things might turn out.
Before my eyes immediately jerked up to the shadow that was suddenly directly in front of me, I hadn't even realized I was being spoken to. Ghost was shaking me a little while placing his hand on my shoulder and saying, "Y/N, snap out of it."
When I finally came back to my senses I apologized and said, "Sorry, did you say something?"
"Get your head in the game, Stalker, you're out of it," He said while looking directly at me, and I just kept silent.
"Are you worried about the mission?" He asked after sighing. I merely shook my head as he removed his hand from my shoulder since I didn't want to discuss it. Before he could continue pressing for information, Gaz and Soap arrived to say they were finished and the game will shortly begin.
"Alright! Although we should all be familiar with the rules by now, I'll make it short and sweet for you, each team will attempt to capture the flag and return it back to their territory. The first team to reach two captures win," Soap stated while grinning and ready to play.
"And foul play is allowed," Gaz added, which caused me to furrow my brow in thought.
"What're the teams?" I enquired while crossing my arms.
Gaz and Soap exchanged glances that clearly said more than words because they had already decided to be teammates.
Ghost scoffed at me as I teased, "Looks like we're on the same team. That's a shame, I was looking forward to kicking your ass."
"Let's get this show started!" Soap said again, his Scottish accent stronger than ever. When he dragged Gaz to their side, I began making my way to Ghost and my side. I noted that they used little barriers and spread targets as obstacles.
As we approached our side, Ghost loomed behind me; we were the red team, and they were the blue.
"What's the plan?" I asked, turning to face Ghost.
"We split up. You will take the right side, while I will take the left. You go first, and I'll defend behind you." He gave the command, and I just nodded and grinned as we took our places, waiting for Soap and Gaz to signal we could begin.
"Go, go, go!" I heard Gaz shout loud and clear, and as soon as I heard that, I shot off in a hurry to hide behind a barrier. I was going to do this the easy way, by sneaking around and avoiding any contact with them while I swooped in and grabbed the flag.
I waited for footsteps but heard none, so I figured they'd decided to keep together and may have gone to Ghost's side. Because the barriers and targets made it difficult to tell where they were, I kept low as I sprinted for the next one.
The atmosphere was tense as I made my way to the flag since I couldn't hear anyone shouting at anyone else, indicating that there had not yet been any contact between teams. When I was almost out of reach of the flag, I noticed that nobody was guarding it, but I had the impression that this was a trap.
