“I feel like I’ve been stuck recently” I said.

“Like, stuck how?” Molly, my girlfriend, asked.

“Stuck creatively,” I specified, “I’m out of ideas, honey.”  I sighed, looking down at my dinner.  Biscuits and gravy were the best we could afford since Molly got laid off last year, though sometimes we have enough to get chicken tenders as well.  “Sorry to spoil breakfast with my problems ” I apologized.

“You don’t have to be sorry sugar, I actually just thought of something that might help,” Molly reassured me, giving me a mischievous smile.

“What were you thinking?” I raised an eyebrow in suspicion.

She thought scouting possible set locations could help me form some ideas, so here we are walking through town at 8:00 in the morning.  I look around me willing some ingenious plot to pop into my head and get me writing again.

“I think,” he mutters to himself, “Hmmm,” he shakes his head.  I’ve watched him do it a few times now and I have a suspicion he’s unconsciously holding himself back.

“Hey, sugar, you getting anything yet?” I’m pretty sure I know what he’s going to say.

“Nah, no luck.”  I was right.

“Look, I can see you’re having ideas, but you keep dismissing them.”

“Those don’t count honey,” he answered.

“Why not?” I questioned.

“Because they won’t become scripts I can sell, and since you were laid off, I can’t afford to write out of passion,” he sighed,  “It’s not even that they’re bad stories, directors are just too scared they’ll do it wrong.”

“Then let’s make the movie ourselves, and sell the rights,” I suggested.

“But I can’t-”

“I’ll be your actor, while you work you do the camera, lighting, and work your jib, crane, thing,” I cut him off.

“Okay then, let's make a movie!” he replied, grinning.
