The next morning, the sun was out and the birds were singing. I sat up and smiled. I didn't usually wake up happy, but knowing that I was going to see Tom made it worth while.
I changed my clothes into a pair of blue jeans and a maroon tank top. I put my hair up in a bun-thanks to terrible bed head and laziness-then brushed my teeth, did my makeup and went downstairs.
"Morning, dad", I kissed his cheek and threw my backpack over my shoulder.
"You're awfully cheerful this morning", He said."Everything okay?"
I nodded."Everything is...great"
"It's the ginger kid", Dane said behind me.
"It is not!", I argued and then started blushing."Yeah, it's definitely the ginger kid", I nodded.
"It's your second day of school! No. No boys", He shook his head.
"Ew. Boys have cooties!", Bailey cringed. I laughed and ruffled her hair.
"It's always the gingers, dad", Dane grabbed my backpack and pulled me to the door.
"Bye dad!", I shouted.
"No boys!", He shouted back.
"No promises!"
Dane let me go once we were outside and we walked to his car. Before I got in, I saw Dalton walk to his truck. He stopped, took a deep breath and got in.
"You know Tom is my friend too and it'd be extremely weird for you to go out with him. Right? He's also a grade ahead of you"
"So? It's just a grade", I rolled my eyes. Dane and I both got in his car and put our seat belts on.
Dane and I argued the whole way to school over if a grade was too much or not. It's not, but that's not what he thinks.
I walked into the school and a couple football players ran up to me.
"Hey Rain", A blonde one said happily.
"Hi..", I thought of the boys name, but I realized I had never net him before."You", I said slowly.
"My names Andy. This is Sid", He pointed to a brunet one with green eyes."And Toby", He pointed to another brunet.
"Hi", I smiled at them. They both said hi and then Andy told me to come with them.
"What about my brother?", I asked. They all looked back at my brother who was walking to a few cheerleaders.
"I'd say he's just fine", Sid laughed. I smiled and nodded. Dane and I didn't have many friends back in Rhode Island. We only had each other.
"Rain!", Tom ran up to me as we walked over to a group of jocks and cheerleaders.
"Hi", I smiled at him. I didn't know it was possible to feel the way I do about a boy when you've only known them for a few days.
"Hey", He smiled."Lost the ducky slippers and sweat pants I see"
I rolled my eyes."Those are my party slippers", I said. He laughed.
"Those are the best slippers I've seen in my entire life"
"I live in those", I said. He put his arm around my shoulders and we walked with Sid, Andy and Toby.
"So..", He started."There's a party on Friday and you should go"
"A party?", I asked, looking up at him like he was crazy.
"Yeah", He said."Haven't you ever been to a party?"
I raised my eyebrows at him."Um...no", I said in the form of a question.
