I remembered wheezing, and gasping for air. It was in my dream. I was drowning again, and this time no one was saving me. I felt water fill my lungs and my whole body go numb.
And then I woke up, and someone put their forearm on my shoulders, pushing me down into a table.
"Don't move", Dalton said. I looked up at him and his other arm wrapped around my wrist. I looked around and saw Barry sitting next to me with a pair of glasses and gloves on. I looked around more and realized we were in his office.
"What's going on?", I tried to move but I couldn't.
"Just don't move, okay?", Dalton took his arm off of me and put his hand on my shoulder. He lightly pinched my arm and pulled a small piece off glass out.
"I'm almost done", Barry said. He wiped my arm off with something and wrapped it.
"What is that?", I asked.
"You don't remember what happened?", Barry asked, looking up at me. I looked between them and my breathing quickened.
I looked at my arm."I thought that was a dream"
"I wish it was", Barry squeezed my hand and I felt tears in my eyes.
Dalton moved his hands and I sat up. He wrapped a blanket around me and I held it close to me with the arm that wasn't numb.
"I have several questions..", I crossed my legs and looked at them. Dalton pulled up a chair and sat next to Barry so they were both in front of me.
"How much blood did I loose?", I asked.
"Not enough to need a transfusion", Barry said.
"How did you know here to find me?", I asked. Barry pointed to Dalton.
"Why were you two together?", I asked.
"We weren't", Barry said."I heard you screaming in the phone, so I picked him up and he told me where to go"
"And how did you get there so fast?"
"I wasn't at home"
"Where were you?"
"Cynthia's house", He said."I had to see if there was anything else, I thought that maybe they missed something"
"How did you know where to go?", I asked, looking at Dalton.
He rolled his eyes."That's were they always take me", He shrugged."Duh"
I looked down and furrowed my eyebrows."Okay, how did I get into this shirt?", I asked. I glared up at both of them.
"Would it make you feel better if I told you that you changed in your sleep?", Dalton asked and looked at Barry. They exchanged looks and I shook my head. My face heated up at the thought of both of them seeing me without a shirt.
I put my hand over my face and shook my head again.
"Why didn't you take me to a hospital?"
"They would be there"
"Dane is in there", I said."What happens when they find him?"
"There are three police officers with him right now", Barry said.
"But the officers-"
"They're not Lakewood officers, they're Chatswin officers", Dalton said.
"Chatswin?", I asked.
"The place you're in right now", Barry said.
I nodded."Right", I looked at my arm and tapped my fingers on the bandage that was wrapped around it."How long do I have to have this thing on?", I asked.
