The next day at school was tiring more than anything. Dane was locked up in his room all night and my dad drove me to school instead of Dane.
"What do you think?", Tom asked. I looked up at him and shook my head.
"Sorry, what?"
"About us", He said."Calling you Rain"
"Oh", I dropped my fist from chin and sat up straighter."I don't mind it", I smiled.
"See? I told you", Said a girl with bleach blonde hair and light brown eyes. She was sitting on top of the table in a cheer uniform. She looked at me and smiled.
"I'm Rosie", She said, holding her hand out to me.
"I'm Rain", I said, shaking her hand. The bell rang and we all got up.
"You going to Charlie's party tonight?", Rosie asked me.
"Uh..", I looked over over at Tom and he smiled at me."Yeah", I nodded."I'll be there"
"Great", She smiled and walked away with a few other cheerleaders.
I don't belong with this crowd. I hate sports, and I'm not popular. Well, I wasn't. I'm not exactly sure what I am considered anymore.
I walked into art class and stood there for a minute, contemplating weather I should sit next to Dalton or not. Images of Dane's face last night flashed in my head.
Was I really going to listen to what my brother told me to do?
I walked over to Dalton, and it took last bit of pride I had to sit next to him and pretend like nothing had happened last night.
"Hey", He said. I looked over at him and smiled."What happened?", He asked.
I heart my heart beat in my ears. This was a mistake. I shouldn't have come over here.
"We got in an argument and my little sister screamed. Someone heard it, called the police, it's not a big deal. Just a big misunderstanding"
"You okay?", He asked. I nodded and smiled.
"I'm fine"
He took off his hood, revealing that he had a busted lip an a black eye.
"What happened?", I asked, slightly shocked that someone could actually beat up someone like Dalton.
"I got into a fight with one of the neighbor kids. No big deal", He shrugged.
"Are you okay?", I asked. He nodded.
"I'm fine. If you think this is bad, you should've seen the other guy"
I smiled and reminded myself that he could take care of himself.
"I'm sure he deserved it"

I leaned against the railing on my porch and stared at a tree that the sun was setting behind. I thought about what'd it would be like at the party I decided not to go to.
"Rain", I heard a familiar voice say. I looked over by the steps that led up to my front door. Tom stood there, leaning against the rail.
"Hey", I smiled at him."What are you doing here? I thought you were at the party"
He shrugged."It wouldn't have been fun without you"
I blushed and looked down."So, why are you here?", I asked, looking back up at him.
"Well, I was here to talk to your brother, but this is much better"
I couldn't help but ask why he wanted to talk to my brother. Curiosity always gets the best of me.
