"Barry if you don't drive faster they're gonna catch up to us", I said, staring back at the three cars that were following us.
My phone rang and I cursed under my breath. I answered it and said hello as casually as I possibly could.
"Hi, Arin", Ellie said cheerfully."The school called and said that that you leave, and I just wanted to know where you were"
"Oh, the dance was getting boring, so Dalton is taking me to Rosie's house. Is that okay?"
"Is it okay with her parents?", She asked.
"Yeah", I said."It's fine with them"
"Then it's okay with me. But let me ask your dad", She said. I looked at Barry, trying to visually ask for help and he shrugged.
"I don't know", He mouthed to me.
"I panicked", I mouthed back. He looked in the review mirror and swerved his car.
"What was that?", Ellie asked in a panic.
"Nothing. He almost hit a squirrel", I glared at Barry and he gestured behind him. One of the cars was smashed against a guard rail and the side of it was crushed. I sat back in my seat and took a deep breath.
"Please be careful, and it's okay with your dad"
"Thanks Ellie. I'll call you when I'm on my way home"
"Okay. Be safe and don't do drugs"
"Yeah, sure, bye", I hung up and put my phone back.
Dalton swerved his car into the other lane and the second car drove off the edge of the mountain we were driving on.
Barry drove faster, dodging other cars and so was Dalton.
"How are you guys driving like that? This isn't Fast And Furious", I put one hand over my stomach and the other over my mouth.
"Please don't throw up in my car", He said.
"Car sick", I said."That's all"
"You'll get used to it"
"I don't want to get used to it", I said.
He held my hand in a friendly matter and squeezed it.
"I know. And were gonna try as hard as we can to make sure you don't, but for now, you should at least try", He said.
I nodded and closed my eyes. I gripped his hand and held my breath to keep myself from crying.
The car stopped and I felt someone pulled me out. I gasped and opened my eyes.
"Come on, Rain, they'll find us here", Dalton said. Him, Barry and I were in an alley. I mentally thanked God that it was unfamiliar. We all started running until my lungs almost gave out on me. Barry grabbed my wrist so I wouldn't fall behind, he led us up a stairwell and into a room. I fell to my knees and put one of my hands on the ground. Dalton leaned on the wall and Barry sat next to me.
"Well..", I said breathlessly."Was there a point to that?"
Dalton heaved a laugh and I looked back at him. He held up and white mask and my face contorted. I stood up and took it from him.
"How'd you get it?"
"On the way to my car, they surrounded me and I got one of their masks..", He put his hands on his knees."I saw his face"
"You saw his face?", Barry's voice was low, almost emotionless. Dalton nodded.
"Who was it?", I asked. Barry stood next to me.
