It's been a week since I took that walk with Tom. I hadn't mentioned it to him, or to anyone else. Not after what happened when I told Ellie.
"You going to the dance?", Rosie asked me. I blinked a few times and looked up at her."The Sadie Hawkins dance I mean", She corrected herself.
"Oh", I looked around at everyone who was staring at me."I don't know-"
"You should. Everyone wants you there. Right guys?", She looked around at everyone. They either nodded or said something in reply.
"I might. It depends on what I'm doing"
"You should. We're counting on you to be there", She said. The bell rang and everyone got up.
"You should go", Tom said. I looked up and smiled at him.
"Maybe", I threw my backpack over my shoulder and walked to my history class. I sat in my assigned seat, next to a red haired girl and a brunet boy.
"You're Rain, right?", The boy asked. I nodded and shook his hand."I'm Eric. I've heard a lot about you"
"I get that a lot", I smiled. He laughed and the girl next to me scoffed.
"Of course you do", She said. I looked at her."I don't see the big deal. All it did was rain the day you came, I really don't see the big deal"
"Neither do I, but I'm not complaining"
"Of course not. I wouldn't either if I got as much praise as you do", She rolled her eyes.
"Back off Cynthia. It's not like she chose this", Eric said.
"You don't have to-"
"Awe. You're fighting her battles now? Cute, s-"
"Cynthia", The teacher snapped. We all looked forward at him."Is there something you'd like to share with the class?"
"Actually, yes", She stood up."Why is this girl so famous here? You don't actually believe she made it rain, do y-"
"Yes, actually. And it's people like you that made it stop in the first place. Sit down, Cynthia"
"Wha-", I started then stopped myself.
What is that supposed to mean?
"Mister Do-"
"Go to the office", He sighed.
"B-"
"Now, Cynthia", He sighed in frustration.
"But she didn't-", I started but Eric hushed me.
"Would you like to join her?"
I sunk in my seat in attempt to make myself smaller."No, sir"
I watched as Cynthia packed her books, gave me a dirty look and left the classroom.
After class was over, I went to math, english and the home. On the bus, I watched as Cynthia sat in the seat across from me. I mentally prayed that she wouldn't talk to me. When we reached my bus stop, I sighed in relief and rushed off the bus, towards my house.
"Rain!", Tom shouted behind me.
I turned around and smiled at him. He jogged to catch up with me.
"Hey", He smiled."I just wanted to say that I'm sorry about what happened the other day"
"It's fine", I shrugged.
"Arin", I heard a voice on the opposite side of me. The only person at our school that called me by my name was-
"Dane", I said. I smiled at him."Hi"
