Before the eclipse Ney'ite went to take a walk on the shore as always, but this time she wasn't alone.
"Hey!" She heard a voice behind her, Neteyam.
"Oh hi Neteyam."
Neteyam had a strange reaction when he heard Ney'ite call him by name, perhaps it was for the sweet way the words had come out of her mouth without the usual stern tone with which she spoke normally or just because she remembered his name. Ney'ite looked down and began to look at her feet in the sand, as stern and strong as she seemed, she was very shy, that's why she rarely spoke to other people who were not her mother and her friends. Neteyam couldn't stop staring at her; he found her simply beautiful both for its physical appearance, Neteyam was lost looking at her big blue eyes tending to gray, they reminded him when it rained at his house and the sky turned gray and he and his brothers loved to run through the trees while the rain fell continuously on their heads, both for the way she knew how to be severe and shy at the same time.
"I'm sorry for how I behaved days ago, but you also have to understand me, I'm very protective of my sister, for me she's everything, is that when I saw how your brother looked at her and I got a sense of anger and-"
"Don't worry, I know how it feels" Neteyam said to her looking straight into her eyes.
Ney'ite tried to avoid his look, but something inside her made her do something she would never do in her life, she took his hands and held them in hers. The same thing that had pushed her to take Neteyam's hands was smiling beside her happy with the gesture that the girl had made, Eywa. It was Eywa who made them meet, first in her dreams, then on the island where she lived and Eywa never did anything by chance. Neteyam continued to observe their joined hands, how well they fit together like pieces of a puzzle. Then suddenly Ney'ite pulled her hands from Neteyam's, stared him in the eye for a few seconds. Looking at him she understood why she had dreamed of him, why Eywa had made them meet. Immediately Ney'ite panicked. When Neteyam saw her changing expression, he took her hands still woven into his and squeezed them close to his chest, asking her, "Is everything okay?"
At that moment they were so close that Ney'ite could feel his breath pricking on her neck. Immediately her cheeks turned a bright pink, she was feeling something. She tried in every way to calm herself but she couldn't, to prevent him to see her pink cheeks she lowered her gaze again. She would have wanted to tell him just one word of the thousand she had in her head but she could not speak, she had like a knot in her throat that blocked her. With all the strength she had in her body he looked down and almost with a hiss she said "Sorry", and so she ran away as far as possible from him, leaving him standing alone on the beach with his mouth wide open in amazement.
During the dinner, Neteyam and Ney'ite exchanged some sneaky looks that they thought no one had noticed, and instead someone had seen them.
Tsireya had already taught Tuk how to ride an ilu while she was surprised that Kiri had learned on her own. Now the two sisters were teaching the boys how to breathe.
"Breath in" Ney'ite said taking a deep breath "and breath out. Imagine the growing of a flame, you must slow down your heart beat."
The first to try was Lo'ak helped by Tsireya, Ney'ite already knew that even though the guy would get messed up by her sister's touch on his chest.
"Lo'ak your heartbeat is fast"
"I'm sorry" he answered her trying to stay serious.
Ne'ite could do nothing but hold back a smile for what had just happened. Then she turned and saw Neteyam laughing with Rotxo at the sight of the scene.
