The chief's eldest daughter hurried to the village in search of her mother. The first place she went to look for her was their marui but, strangely enough, she was not then so she kept walking. After about ten minutes she found her sitting on a branch talking to her childhood friend. So she approached the two women, and as soon as she was close enough to her mother, she leaned her head on her shoulder, frightening her. Next to her, Alyara, the one who could be called her mother's best friend, the only one with whom she had remained friends and confided, was trying to suppress a smile.
"Sorry to bother you, but, Mom, I need to talk to you." She said Ney'ite by taking her head off Ronal's shoulder and standing next to her.
"Sure, all right. Alyara we'd have time to talk some other time." The latter greeted mother to daughter with one hand before they left.
The journey to the Marui was quieter than Ney'ite had ever thought. Even though she decided to talk to her, it was a big step forward when she never told her anything. Ronal was very surprised by the gesture of her daughter. In the last few years she had learned about a different, silent, brusque and grumpy Ney'ite, who kept everything to herself. As soon as they arrived, they entered quickly and sat facing each other.
"Ney'ite tell me everything." Ronal told her eager to hear what her daughter had to say.
"Okay, I’m ready." she whispered to herself before she started talking.
"Mother, so much has happened these days. Tsireya advised me to come talk to you, so that’s why I’m here, not of my own free will."
"Get straight to the point. I don’t have time to waste." Her mother was back to being the same, impatient and gruff.
"The dreams." At that moment Ronal’s eyes opened wide. " I started to have them again."
"That’s not true!" Ronal stood up and started shooting around the room. " No! MaEywa why?" She immediately turned to her daughter and approached her dangerously.
"How long has it been?"
"Just one night, or better yet." Ney'ite was afraid they might start every night. She didn’t want to go back to the way she was, because getting back to life after what she had been through was very difficult.
The mother laid her hands on her daughter’s shoulders and began to recite a few words quietly, trying not to be heard.
"Eywa rutxe srung si sno lu seykxel, sno kin pxiset."
[Eywa please help her be strong, she needs it right now]"Hey! But I’m already strong!" Ney'ite said, getting a look at her mother.
"That’s all?" Ronal asked after removing her hands from her daughter’s shoulders and saying her last prayers.
"Yes." Ney'ite knew she shouldn’t have lied to his mother, especially on such a sensitive subject, but at that moment she couldn’t. It was a big step forward. She added. "That’s all."
"All right, then I’ll see you at lunch." Those were the last words that Ronal said before leaving straight away.
She wasn’t so worried if her daughter was telling her the truth or not because she knew when it was hard for her to talk to her. However, she was glad that, somehow, they had managed to talk, even if for a little while, alone. This meant that Ney'ite was starting to trust people again, especially her mother.
Ney'ite was alone for a few minutes staring at the void. She wasn’t thinking about a specific thing or she just wasn’t thinking about anything. She then began to look at the sea from a clear window. In the distance she saw her brother and his friends joking. Next to them came what appeared to be Lo'ak, yes it was him. Strangely enough, that time she became interested in what was happening at sea among the boys. It seemed that her brother had said something that had bothered him, in fact immediately after Lo'ak had reacted in a strange way. Without realizing it, in the blink of an eye, they had disappeared. Ney'ite didn’t make a big problem and came out of the marui.
