That same night Ney'ite struggled to fall asleep because every time she closed her eyes she saw the same thing, a war. She tried to think of other things, like her ilu, but there was nothing to do, that thought never went away. It never changed, always the same thing.
beginning of the dream
On a normal day, or so it seemed, Ney'ite was swimming off with her ilu, Aki. Both were having a good time until Ney'ite saw a war plane arrive from afar.
"No, no, no, no. I have to go back to the village," she said, starting to worry.
She tried to climb on Aki but she refused to take her to the village. She even tried to swim alone but it seemed that the sea was pushing her back.
"No!" she shouted, crying when she saw that the sky people had arrived in the village and started setting it on fire.
Ney'ite stood still in the middle of the sea, helpless, could do nothing, could not move forward or backward. She was almost stuck in the middle of it.
"But Eywa! Why, why do this to me!" From anger and pain she began to punch the water.
She received no response. She felt abandoned by Eywa as well.
The pain inside her began to get bigger and bigger, she couldn’t stop thinking that she could do something to save them, but still it would be in vain.
Next to her she felt a presence, Eywa. She felt like someone was putting a hand on her shoulder, caressing her to stop her crying.
There she realized that what she was seeing was not reality but a dream, or more than a dream a nightmare."I’m just asking why, why show me this."
No one answered. But inside her a voice told her.
"In time you will understand why."
end of the dream
Ney'ite awoke abruptly. Her breathing was irregular and labored. She looked to her right and saw that Neteyam was still sleeping, she sighed a sigh of relief seeing this.
She got up trying not to make any noise and went to a part of the cave overlooking the sea. When she got there ahe sat down and put her feet in the sea.She stood for a few seconds thinking, watching the fish swimming in the water.
"In time you will understand." she whispered.
She couldn’t understand the reason for that dream, maybe she should have talked to her mother, but it would have been crazy.
She looked quickly at the sky, it was pitch dark and full of shiny stars.
After doing this she got up and went back to sleep near Neteyam, putting herself in his arms.Within seconds she fell asleep without having any other dreams.
The sun was slowly beginning to rise and the sky was turning orange. Neteyam and Ney'ite were still sleeping next to each other, their hands entwined. The sun rays entered the cave, touching Ney'ite’s skin gently, then Neteyam’s. The first to wake up was Neteyam who tried to get up without waking his girlfriend, but failed. In fact, a few seconds later Ney'ite woke up.
"Good morning skxawng!" she said, smiling and then hugging him.
"Good morning to you, too," he replied, holding her tighter, then kissing her on the forehead.
