It was not easy for Ney'ite to fall asleep that night. She opened and closed her eyes so many times that it was starting to burn. Another dream couldn’t get her to sleep. What she had dreamed this time had really frightened her and, certainly, she would have struggled to forget. For, what seemed like the millionth time, she tried to go back to sleep. She lay down on the right side, got comfortable and closed her eyes. At the exact moment her eyelids collided, she saw a dazzling light, a loud, dull noise, as if it were a shot, and then, darkness. She could not see anything anymore, she could only hear voices in the distance that gradually became weaker until she did not hear them anymore. Panic, at that moment it attacked her. She tried to move, she stood still, she tried to open her eyes, she saw black, she screamed, she heard nothing. She felt like she was in a loop she couldn’t get out of. The gestures she had made were repeated endlessly: she moved, opened her eyes and screamed but, nothing and no one answered. Suddenly Ney'ite felt heavy and the ground beneath her became soft as she began to sink into what appeared to be water. Around her she felt small slimy tentacles that enveloped her, until, in less than a second, she felt nothing. She couldn’t see or hear or speak, her life was over.

At that moment she stood up. Her breathing was labored, the droplets of sweat slowly descended from her forehead along her face, her eyes wide open. Ney'ite immediately blinked several times, looking around, luckily she saw something. She moved her arms in front of her, she could move. The only thing she didn’t do was yell because that would have made her parents woke up. With one hand she pulled back the hair that had finished in front of her face, then wiping the sweat in her forehead with her right arm.

That dream had very frightened her. To see nothing or not to see, was an omen of death. But she could not die right? At least she hoped she wouldn’t. She hoped that Eywa would help her understand the meaning of that dream. But that time she didn’t get up or run away. She needed to rest because the nights were coming back to be difficult; she turned away and closed her eyes trying to empty her mind of all thoughts.

The next morning Ney'ite woke up later than usual, causing her to have breakfast alone. Or at least she thought she was alone.

While she was eating what appeared to be a berry cake, a figure entered and approached the girl. Ney'ite looked up as soon as she heard someone sitting next to her and started watching her.

"Neteyam, good morning." She said, putting down the slice of cake she was about to bite.

"Good morning, yawne." [my beloved] He answered by placing a sweet kiss on her forehead.

Ney'ite the night before had thought long about the situation between her and Neteyam, She thought they had rushed seriously too much. Of course she loved him, but first he wanted to grow a friendship with him. And yet after not even a week that they knew each other they were together, perhaps because they were destined to be together? Who knows.

"I should talk to you" They both said at the same time.

Neteyam smiled and then let his girlfriend talk.

"So I’ve been meaning to tell you this for a while now." She paused for a few seconds and then resumed. " Neteyam I love you with all my heart though, I feel like we’re not close enough. I don’t know if you understand what I’m saying, but I think we rushed it."

"Don’t worry, whatever you decide to do, I’ll respect it."

Ney'ite simply smiled at the statement her boyfriend had just made.

"I think we should take some time to get to know each other." At that moment Ney'ite raised her eyes and they immediately collided with those of him who were already staring at her. Those eyes that made him fall in love with her.

"Let’s take all the time we need, we have our whole lives ahead of us." He said hugging his girlfriend.

Ney'ite smiled, broke away from Neteyam, crossed her legs, and said, laying out her hand. "My name is Ney'ite, and you, forest boy, what’s your name?"

Neteyam took her hand and squeezed it. "I am Neteyam it is a pleasure to meet you, daughter of the chief." He made a small bow at the end, receiving in response a pat on the head from Ney'ite.

"Miss! You think it’s okay to hit a stranger?" He said with a shocked face and an amused tone.

"Oh forest boy! You are not a stranger!" She laughed, seeing Neteyam starting to make funny and strange faces.

They went on like this until Ney'ite finished eating. They got up and Ney'ite didn’t wait a second to start pushing Neteyam with her shoulder, which fell to the floor on his back.

"You should see your face!" Ney'ite pointed at him with one finger and couldn’t stop laughing at Neteyam’s offended face.

"Run." That was the last thing he said before he started chasing Ney'ite out of the big marui all over the beach.
