Feelings about the unknown

Part 7

3rd POV

Sam looks at Colby with a curious glare and widens his eyes waiting for an answer. Colby looks down quickly and nods. He goes to the main light and turns it off, then walks over to the his bed side lamp and turns it on so he can stay up a little bit longer. Sam gets underneath the covers and continues to watch TV as Colby turns the lights off. Colby gets into bed and stays above the covers and watches TV too. Not too long after Colby glances over at Sam who had his eyes closed.

Colby gets close to Sam's face where he can feel his breathe on his nose. Colby's heart flutters and had an intrusive thought of caressing Sam's cheek. Instead he just leaned back in his normal position "I can't believe he is already asleep. Today must have not bothered him that much." Colby thought to himself. As Colby sits there watching tv, he glances over at where their equipment bags are. "I might as well go ahead and look through some of the footage and see what we can keep" Colby thought to himself. He got up off the bed and dug around the bags trying to find the laptop. Sam rustles around in the bed. Colby grabs the laptop and slowly lays back down trying not to disturb Sam.

While Colby is on the laptop going through the videos, Sam starts to have a nightmare. He is in a dark room and begins to hear whispers. He starts to walk through the void, but the further he walks the louder the whispers become. "See you soon....See you soon......See you soon" The same thing Sam heard over the speaker kept repeating louder and louder. He starts feeling grabs and pinches on his whole body and starts running to try to get away from them. Colby notices Sam's face is squinched up and his body is twitching. As Colby was about to wake Sam up, Sam clinged onto Colby and held him tightly. Colby being shocked just looked at Sam who was still asleep. Colby always being confused about his feelings for Sam hugged him back. With Sam still twitching Colby called his name softly so that way he will wake up. Sam still asleep and in his dream hears Colby calling his name. He starts running towards the sound in the dark trying to get away from all the voices.

Sam opens his eyes. They begin to water from the adrenaline of his dream. He blinks a few times to get the tears out of his eyes and that is when he notices he was hugging Colby and Colby was hugging him back. With the realization of this he moved away wiping his tears but that was just to hide him blushing.

Colby sits up in bed and puts the laptop to his side and asks Sam what he was dreaming about. Sam explains the dream to Colby. Colby being scared for his best friend, hugs him "Everything will be okay. I won't let anything hurt you." Colby whispers into Sam's ear. Sam is shocked a bit by the sudden gesture but hugs back "I know...". But Sam was scared. Not of just the unknown but also of his feelings.

Colby's POV

I can't let go of Sam....I don't want to let go of him. I hug him tighter, terrified for his safety and wellbeing. I feel him move. I let go and look at him. His face was bright red and his eyes looked sunken in. I could tell he was exhausted. "Are you okay?" I ask while staring at him. He looks up at me with dead eyes studying my face like I was studying his. I look down at his lips and without thinking I begin to move my face in. I see Sam slowly closing his eyes and I begin to close mine "Are we about to...kiss?".
