Prologue

I attend to the best school for witchcraft and wizardry—well, second best.

The first spot belongs to Hogwarts, where my parents first attended—until my dad got expelled. According to my mother, he tried to make some weird potion in one of the school toilets and it obviously went wrong. Causing the toilet to explode. The story has its own humor when you hear it the first time, but my father is known for it and is proud too, so I hear it at least once everyday.

At the time, he was dating my mother. She was obviously very disappointed that her boyfriend got expelled for exploding a toilet, but she didn't let that get in the way of their relationship.

We are one of the wealthiest business-owning families in London. We come from roots of ancestors who were impecable in potions. That's why most of the people in our city visit our store.

Our family is from Spain. I was born and raised there until I was six, when my parents decided it was best to move the business closer to more witches and wizards, in other words, London. My mother's family is the only family line in Spain to get enrolled into Hogwarts.

Now here's the interesting thing, I'm banned from the school. So you might be guessing how that went down.

When I turned eleven, my whole family waited anxiously in the living room for the exciting news. The letter arrived but it wasn't welcoming me into Hogwarts, instead it said:

"Dear Mr and Mrs Evergreen, we hope this letter finds you well.

We have sent this letter to inform you that your child, Asphodel Evergreen, will not be allowed to attend to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

This is due to the events that happened on November 25, 1976, when Mr Evergreen exploded the gentlemen's restroom with the intention of creating an Erumpent Potion.

We have arranged for Miss Evergreen to attend Beauxbatons Academy of Magic.

Expect a letter with from the academy with more information.

And since then, I have attended Beauxbatons in France.

Better than nothing, right?
