As I walk through the empty hallways of the school, I find myself face to face with Draco.
I walk past him, "I don't have anything to say to you Malfoy-"
"Jane is dead."
I stop in my tracks, my head is spinning and I feel out of breath for a minute. "What?"
"Harry brought back her and Cedric's body...just thought you would want to know." He says.
It's clear that he's fighting back tears. She was someone he loved very dearly like a sister. Although I wasn't close with either of them, the mention of their death makes me not be able to utter a word. After all, how can someone so real in one second become just a memory the next?
"I'm...so sorry, Draco," I utter.
"...Thanks, Asphodel."
———
As soon as I open the door to my dorm, I immediately hug Cho, who is currently sitting at the edge of her bed with Luna beside her. We stay silent, the only thing that can be heard is the sound of Cho's sobs echoing through the cold room.
Before, death was something only that was heard of; death was something that seemed so far away in a world full of living.
But right now, death was real. It was here. And we could all feel it.
Hogwarts isn't what it was anymore.
