"Good morning students! Welcome back to another year at Hogwarts!" Professor Sprout smiles. "Now, since it is the first day of school, your assignment will be to get to know each other. If you're not sociable, do not worry and feel free to walk around and get comfortable with your surroundings. You may begin."
Since Herbology is not required after the second year at Hogwarts, all of us are here by choice...and when I say all of us I mean the seven of us. Not a lot of people are interested in plants anymore so you won't see that many people taking this class.
I already walked around the class, so I might as well talk to some people. That is, until I see Neville walking towards me.
He takes a seat beside me. "Hey Asphodel."
"Hi Neville," I smile.
"How are you liking the school so far?" He asks.
"It's beyond what I imagined." I reply. "I'm so happy I'm here."
"I'm glad," he smiles. "Have you met Harry?"
"The Boy Who Lived? Of course I did. It's really surprising how popular he is."
"I know, he really inspires me," he says quietly.
"He inspires you?" I ask.
"Yeah, he inspires a lot of people. I mean, you've seen how the students at this school treat me and then you see how they treat Harry. Believe it or not, my parents died the same way that his did. But I lacked popularity, so I'm known as a nobody," he finally looks at me.
I, in fact, don't know how people treat him, but it must be bad judging by his facial expression.
"How is that inspiring? That sounds awful. I mean, people treat you differently because you lack popularity," I say.
"That's what is inspiring. Even though I'm less popular than him, he understands how it feels like to loose your parents as a child and doesn't make fun of me," he says. "He's truly a hero."
I can't help the smile that crawls slowly to my lips. "Sounds like you see a person for what they are and not what they seem. You're amazing Neville."
His cheeks turn into a light shade of pink. "Thanks."

"Why do we have homework for Potions? It's literally the first day!" I complain and drop my head to the table.
"Aren't you a genius in Potions? You'll get this done in a breeze!" Ron says.
"Shut up and let me complain," I say blandly.
It's after school and we are sitting at the library attempting to start a study session. (By we, I mean me, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny, who I just met.) Nobody wants to study, except Hermione.
"Come on, we have to study! We already have a test next week. We can study and do our homework at the same time," Hermione says.
I sit up and smile. "Let's go to the kitchens and see if we can get something to eat!"
"Are you really that hungry?" Harry asks.
"Who isn't? It's still two hours until dinner and I'm starving," Ron says.
"I agree with Ron for once, let's get cookies," Ginny says.
"Is nobody listening to me?" Hermione looks at us in disbelief.
"Sorry 'mione, but this is too boring, and we still have the rest of the week to study," Ron grins.
Hermione sighs in defeat. "Fine, but tomorrow we're studying!"
We all smile and run to the kitchen. We sneak in through the door and hide behind some flour bags. It's smells so good. That's when notice a wooden table overflowing with food. There's turkey, hot dogs, mashed potatoes, gravy, and so much more. The plan is to get just some light snacks and get out without causing disturbance.
"Okay so, where are the cookies?" I whisper.
"Should we ask a house elf?" Ginny asks.
"No, that will cause too much suspicion," says Hermione.
"Maybe they're in the oven." Harry whispers.
"Guys look, there!" Ron points out a tray full of chocolate chip cookies. Just taken out of the oven.
"Okay, get one each, I'm looking at you Ron, and we get out as quickly as possible. Got it?" Everyone nods at my plan and we all go one by one. Each of us take a cookie and run out the door. We all agree to head to the Gryffindor common room to eat since we're forbidden to eat at the library.
"Do you think they'll notice?" Harry asks.
"No, they'll probably think a rat stole them or something," says Ron.
"You're the biggest rat, Ron," Ginny says.
We all break into laughter except Ron, who is glaring at us. Then we get to the common room entrance, which is painting of a very beautiful woman sitting.
"What do you need to do to get inside?" I ask.
"We just have to say a password and she lets us in," Harry says, he's referring to the painting.
"That's not fair, I have to solve a riddle every single time," I say. I bite into my cookie when I notice that everyone is already eating except me. It's still warm and so soft, the chocolate is delicious and it melts into your mouth almost instantly.
After we get in, we spend the whole evening talking and laughing until it was time for dinner.
Hey everyone! Here's just a simple chapter to see some of the character dynamic happening.
I hope you enjoyed it!
