You found yourself munching on the cookies with Xiao that the three men had brought earlier. All of them were currently out to do whatever the hell they needed to, saying they'd be back.
It was an awkward silence between you two. Xiao felt bad for everything he said to you, but he hated the fact you had hardly told him anything anymore.
Still, your parents raised him right.
"I'm sorry." The words were muffled by the half eaten cookie in his mouth.
"It's okay." You reassured, a small yet sad smile making its way into your face. "We've been through a lot Xiao, but we've always gotten through it all. I know we can get through this."
You weren't lying- you both could get used to no longer living in the house, it was just the thought that the last connection of your parents lingering touches and senses were all gone.
"We could've kept it if you had just confided in me."
You sighed with a slight groan at his words, not wanting to get into an argument. "Not now Xiao, please."
"I'm your brother, you're supposed to let me help."
"I'm your oldest sister, and the last I need you to do is share this burden with me." You immediately shot back, annoyance lingering in your voice.
"It's not easy, Y/N! Your life could be so much easier if you just let me help-"
"No! It wouldn't be easier!" The argument turned into raised voices, the both of you knowing it was best not to scream for the other people in the apartment. "You don't understand Xiao- no matter if anyone helps, nothing is gonna get easier! It will never be easy!"
"Then let me understand!"
"I FUCKING CANT!" You yelled, starting Xiao. Okay, maybe you should take back the thought about the two of you not screaming.
You were breathing heavily with tears filling up in your eyes and Xiao couldn't understand why- you hardly fought during arguments with him.
He just stared at you, not knowing what to say, but he didn't have to, because you kept yelling. At this point it wasn't even at him, and more at yourself.
"You don't think I know I've failed?! I've failed as a daughter AND your sister! I'm trying, Xiao, I SWEAR I'm trying but nothing is good enough for anyone! I pay- well I should be speaking in past tense now!- for the house, pay for our tuitions, make sure we have food, I protect you- hell I PROTECT THIS FUCKING CITY, AND DO I GET A THANK YOU?! NOOO BECAUSE EVERYONE KNOWS SILVER STAR CAN HANDLE EVERYTHING RIGHT?!"
You panted after your outburst, now standing on the other side of the table as you stared at Xiao with wide eyes of anger, chest rising up rapidly as you tried to catch your breath.
Xiao only stared at you with wide eyes of absolute shock.
Not because you yelled, though.
A whole minute went by of him staring and blinking rapidly while you tried to calm down, your rapid breathing turning back to it's normal pace.
It was once you were calm when you realized your words.
"Oh shit."
"WHAT?!" The shock completely got to him, his yell and face practically also screaming 'I'm so ducking surprised this bitch did not just reveal she's silver star'
