Evelyn

I can do it.

Okay, that's an exaggeration.

I can finally think about evolving my wedding card print company into a wedding planning company.

With the stream of the latest orders, I've been saving up most of the revenue and focusing on doing as much research as I can.

I owe this to Warren. His contract saved my—titanic of a—company. I hope we aren't doomed like Jack and Rose.

Due to the clause of revenue share I'm getting more, and it seems unfair, but I can't do anything about it. Warren is like a rock. He won't move until he wants to.

Miles and I are in a park. It's a Saturday morning.

Looking back I can't believe it's been two months since I've set foot in nature. I stay cooped up in my office all the time.

I watch Miles running like he's on clouds. He rolls and jumps like he's the happiest in the world.

Snapping some pictures I send them to Michael who immediately calls me.

"I'm adopting your dog."

I scoff. "I'd like to see you try."

"You're lonely so I'll just leave him with you. Your ass needs a companion."

"Excuse me. I'm fine on my own."

"Yeah, we all know how that is."

"I don't date because I don't want to."

"You don't date because people get tired of your crankiness."

That pisses me off. "Well, no one dates you because you're a closed book."

The silence stretches between us and guilt begins to collect in me when he says. "fine you win."

I shake my head. "When are you coming? It's the end of August."

"I'm sorry that I won't be able to make it. Fashion shows are lining up for the fall collection and I'm getting occupied with fittings and rehearsals. It'll take a while to visit."

"I miss you." I don't say anything else because just like me his work is important to him and I can't be heartless and pull him away from it.

"I miss you too Lolo. It's been a while since... I've seen you." The pause breaks my heart.

"Can't you come for a weekend?"

"Weekend disappears in a snap of fingers. I want to spend some time with you and Miles."

"Visit whenever it's easy for you." My throat clogs with emotion and I hate how much his delay is hurting me.

I miss Michael so much. And with everything going on with Warren. I want to talk to him about him before he can find out through some online source. Warren is a famous millionaire. It's only about time when tabloids pick up on him and capture us together.

Thankfully that hasn't happened so far. But there's no guarantee.

Michael would have my head on a platter if he'll see our picture together. And if it's an intimate one, he'll send me straight to the other world.

He swore to punch him to death. The threat once didn't faze me, but now, I'm sure he'll see through it.

"I'll text you before catching a flight. Be at the airport when I come."

An involuntary smile widens my mouth. "Of course. Take care of yourself, okay. Don't work too hard."

"I could say the same to you. But I know my sister. She doesn't listen to anyone."
