It was again one of those nights. No matter how much she'd gotten used to it, it still hurt. Haein was sobbing while sitting the small room all curled up into a ball. She thought eventually it'd stop. But the abuse just got worst as time passed by. It felt like she wasn't their daughter, just a homemade punching bag.

Haein looked at the phone laying beside me which she had managed to steal from her dad without him seeing. Though she was afraid of the consequences, she picked it up and dialed his number.

Bang Christopher Chan, her cousin's friend. She has met him a few times. But she could tell he's genuinely a nice person, he's someone she could trust. She couldn't think of anyone else at the moment. Her heartbeat went crazy when she heard the dialing on the phone. She might make things even worst. Harin immediately cut off the call being afraid.

But one part of her wanted to do this. A part of her had hope that he will help her. She picked up the phone and dialed his number again. A minute had already passed, but it felt like ages. Finally she heard his voice on the phone.

"Hello?" She closed her eyes as more tears ran down. Her sobs got louder as she heard his voice.

He recognized her voice, "Haein? What happened to you? Are you okay?"

"Help me, please...," she managed to let out through her unstable voice.

"Okay, firstly I need you to calm down. Where are you? Tell me, I'm coming," he sounded very worried.

"I-I'm at home," she sniffed. "They beat me up today, again." She broke down again.

It was enough for him to understand what she was talking about. "Where exactly are you now?"

"I'm sitting in my bedroom, with the door locked."

"Good. Stay right there, I'm coming." He hung up the call.

She hid her head in her knees and kept crying. She had no idea about what he was going to do. All she could do was wait. 10 minutes later, she was almost about to fall asleep being tired. But then she heard the doorbell ring. She heard someone open the door. She could hear their voices from her room.

"Where is she?" She heard Chan's voice. She immediately got up from her bed and went closer to the door to hear what they were saying.

"Who are you talking about?" Haein's dad asked.

"Haein," Chan replied with a stern voice.

"Why do you ask?" Her mom questioned him.

"Officers, please arrest them."

Did he bring the police?

"Hey! Hey! What are you doing?!" Haein's father screamed.

She heard footsteps approaching my room. And then there was a knock. "Hey, you in there?" She heard Chan's voice. She slowly opened the door, totally not prepared for whatever that was about to come.

Haein saw the cops holding her parents who now had handcuffs on. They were struggling to get out and screaming at the cops to let them go. She looked at Chan who had the most worried look on his face.

"Are you hurt anywhere? Do we need to take you to the hospital?" He asked looking at me from top to bottom.

"No, I'm fine," she replied.

"Hey, kid, is it true that they've been abusing you?" One of the officers interrogated.

"What is this bullshit?! We didn't abuse her! We were just disciplining her," her dad protested.

"We're not talking to you," the officer replied.

Haein looked at Chan and then at her parents who were cursing at her through their venomous gaze.

"You don't have to be afraid anymore. The cops have got them," Chan assured her.

"Yes, they did," she replied gathering all courage inside her.

"She's lying!" Haein's mother screamed.

"Well, save those words for the court," the officer replied. The cops took them away but one stayed behind to talk with Chan.

"They're behind the bars now. But have you thought what you'll do with her?" He asked.

"I'll take her at my place for the night. I'll see what I can do later," Chan replied.

"Okay, then. Take care you two. We'll contact you later. She needs to give an official statement about her parents."

"Yes, officer," Chan replied and the officer left with the others.
