Chapter 18 : Haein's birthday

A week had passed. It was finally Haein's birthday. During this week, Chan had never mentioned Haein's birthday again which led to Haein assuming he had forgotten about it. But she didn't bother reminding him. It wasn't that much of a big deal to her anyways.

The day started like any other. Haein didn't notice anything different from Chan. But she didn't mind. Chan left for work and Haein left for her school. Most of her friends didn't remember her birthday but wished her with great excitement when Haneul, who happened to be unbeatable when it came to remembering birthdays, reminded them.

Once school had finished Haein headed home. As she was waiting for the bus at the bus stand, she took out her phone to check for any notifications. She saw a text from Chan.

Chris :
Come over to the company after lunch.  

Short and clear. Haein assumed it would just be because he had to work late again that day. Chan would often call her over at the company when he had to work late at night.

Haein put on a white tank top and light blue denim shorts with a purple cardigan. She took a small blue purse along taking her phone and a little money in it.

Locking the apartment properly, she left for JYPE. Once she arrived at the company, she asked the staff where Chan was. The staff, who was already known to her, told her he was waiting for her at the practice room. Thanking the staff, she went to Stray kids' practice room. The moment she opened the door, she heard a loud bang and the next thing she knew there was confetti flying around.

"Happy birthday, Haein ah!" Haein saw her favorite and close JYP idols standing there with party props. In the middle of everyone, Felix stood with a cake having candles and her name on it. All of them started to sing one of her favorite Stray kids songs.

"You know whenever there's a chance I'll tell you that you're amazing as you are.

Haein teared up at the heart touching lyrics. Once the song finished, they all came one by one hugging her. Changbin put a tiara on her head. Chan came at the very end after everyone else. Holding her hand, he spinned her around.

"It's your big day! Don't cry," Chan giggled as he wiped her tears.

"I... I don't know what to say. Thank you, everyone," Haein couldn't stop smiling. "All this, it's so beautiful, I can't even praise it through words."

"Well, the credit goes to producer CB97," YoungK pointed towards Chan. Chan shyly giggled lowering his black ball cap to hide his face.

"Come on, cut the cake now! I'm hungry!" Changbin whined loudly bursting everyone's eardrums.

"Haein ah, please cut the cake quickly otherwise he's gonna eat us instead," Jisung spoke making everyone laugh.
