Settling In

That night, while everyone was getting ready for bed, Y/N was writing a letter for Enola telling her he had arrived safely.

'To Enola,

I hope this letter finds you well. I have arrived safely at Hogwarts, you would love it here. The train journey took nine hours, nine! Nine hours of either reading or talking to one of the few friends I've already made here. I'm in the same house as Hermione (You met her in Diagon Alley), she and I have already solved a case, 'the case of the missing toad'. I know it's hardly the Abominable Bride case but it's something.

I've also met a girl who's in my year, Wednesday Addams, and I am not above admitting she has me intrigued, she might be the first person who I cannot read or make any deductions on, unfortunately I won't be seeing her often because she was sorted into Slytherin, with that horrible little scrote we met in the tailors, Malfoy. While it is an obstacle, you know me well enough to know I'm not one to back down from a challenging mystery.

I miss you already Enola, if you need me feel free to send a letter with Greg why my letters arrive, I'll make sure to keep you up to date and write to you each week.

Y/N as he sent the letter off, Y/N looked out of the window at the night sky, a hobby he and Enola used to have when they were young, the pair using a stargazing telescope to look out at the stars.

"So, Hermione, what are you deciding to read?" Y/N asked gesturing to the book.

"Why don't you deduce it?" Hermione said playfully.

"Okay, You're already around halfway through the book but it looks like it's been worn down a bit already, and I know you didn't buy second hand books because we shopped together in that book shop. So it means you've already been through it quite a bit. There's the fact that you're not likely to stay up all night with it and risk falling asleep mid revision session possibly forgetting it so it's a book you already know off by heart, now that's not really helpful because you know most books off by heart considering your ability to recall facts from them, so this is a comfort reading book, something you read simply for the enjoyment, then there's the book it's self, something like that can be found on quite a few books but fact that you already know it narrows that margin down considerably, considering we haven't even been to the library and no other first year book has that material on the covers, that leaves one remaining option, ergo you're reading Hogwarts: A History." Y/N said coldly as Hermione looked stunned, Harry and Ron had walked in and witnessed the whole deduction. Ron immediately left, not being the biggest fan of Hermione.

"You're brilliant." Hermione said as she showed him the cover of Hogwarts: A History.

Y/N looked to Harry who smiled.

"Thank you. Now, I'm off to bed, it's been a busy day. You have fun." Y/N said as he walked up the stairs and into the boys dorm where he walked over to the bed and hung his dressing gown up on his bed pillar.

Y/N closed the curtains on his bed and closed his eyes, going to sleep for the night...
