42. YOU WILL BE THE DEATH OF ME

Darian whacked the dashboard angrily, it felt like Jay was moving extremely slow tonight, his pace used to be faster than this.

"Go on faster, Jay. Get down the car, I will drive!" He yelled at him, almost taking the steering wheel from him.

"No, I can't let you drive in this state. We will die if I leave the wheel to you. You are not in the right state of mind." Jay increased the acceleration of the car to a higher one, and the car jumped through the highway, not stopping at any traffic sign; that was what Darian wanted.

"Fuck!" He flailed the dashboard again. "Fuck! I shouldn't have left her tonight, I should have stayed with her." Her number was now switched off and Harrison and Dickson weren't picking up their calls. Darian called the numbers of all the bodyguards at home, but none of them picked up. Pain surged through his insides, he was scared something had happened to Lena. Her voice wasn't bright the way it used to be and now he couldn't get through to her. "Go faster, Jay!"

"This is the highest I can go, the vehicle is not moving, it's jumping," Jay grumbled.

"I don't care, I have to see my wife, I want to see my wife." He felt a heaviness throbbing in his chest, he rubbed it down and shook his head off; he didn't want to imagine something had happened to Lena. No, he didn't want to think about it. She would hide in that secret room, he thought to himself. But what if they had gotten to her before she could find her way? He growled, hitting the dashboard again, almost injuring his fist this time.

"We are home," Jay announced, his heart beating slowly. "You can't go in if there is an invasion, we have to strategize." He halted Darian.

Darian nodded his head, he got out of the vehicle, gripping his pistol with his hand. He signalled to Jay to get down. The environment was unusually quiet, he pressed his ear to the gate to check if he would hear strange footsteps, but there were none.

"What if they are inside?" He whispered to Jay who was loading his gun with bullets. "I can't hear a sound here."

"We have to be careful, I will go in first," Jay said, taking a step forward. He opened the gate and surprisingly, he found all the bodyguards roaming the compound with their guns in their hands. His jaw dropped, he wondered what was going on, and he motioned to Darian to come inside.

They walked towards the main building together, the bodyguards bowed their heads when they noticed Darian's presence.

"Where are they?" Darian yelled, "Did you capture them?" He asked.

They all turned to stare at one another, confusion evident in their gazes, they looked back at Darian, and almost in unison, they asked him. "Who?"

Darian lowered his pistol, "The scoundrels who attacked my wife. Where are they?" He rubbed his temples, he was going crazy already. He didn't want to believe Lena just played a fast one on him. They almost lost their lives on the road home.

"Nothing happened in the house, sir," Dickson responded.

"And, why didn't you pick up your phone?" Darian yelled, "And you all! What the heck happened to your phones?"

They smiled and one of them stepped forward, he was as hefty as the other men. He slipped his gun back into the shoulder holster that was slung across his shoulder and stared at Darian. "Ma'am Lena took our phones from us." He said.

"She took your phones?" Jay scoffed, it was a prank on them.

Darian's eyes moved around, there were about ten bodyguards in the house. How did she do that?
