Victoria lived in a town known for its arts and its beautiful landscape, which included the castle that looked over the town. Victoria's dad was a politician in Italy and had great influence on the town, they lived in a decent sized house. Big enough to raise a few kids and a family dog. Every single night Victoria would sit by the window that had direct vision of the castle on the hill. The moonlight casted a beautiful shadow upon the darkened brick.

She grew up being told bedtime stories about the vampire who supposedly lived in the castle. She promised her mother and father that one day she would capture evidence of a vampire. Her dad told her that was a big job but had faith in her abilities, he thought it was just a kid being a kid.

Victoria always hated the spotlight her father got which meant she was also in that light. It overwhelmed her, she dreamed of a life where she got to be a princess and didn't have to do anything besides tending to a garden or painting. As Victoria grew older she would do as much research as she could about this "vampire".

Her parents saw her increasing interest in the paranormal and different myth and legends and started to grow worried for her. Her father sat her down for a chat, "Vic, I'm worried for you. Don't you think you're being a little obsessive?" Victoria didn't understand where this was coming from. "Not at all. Am I not allowed to have hobbies? I need something to do if I'm not allowed to work!" She huffed dismissing herself from the conversation.

Her father never allowed her to work because he was scared that men would try to kidnap her and sell her for how beautiful she is. He didn't want people harassing her and using her to get social status.

During the night Victoria stared out her window while brushing her long, black hair. She admired the castle and saw that in the top part of the castle there was a red light coming from the window. But she then saw a shadow ascend down what she would assume to be a spiral staircase. Her eyes widened at the site and looked around her room making sure her parents aren't sneaking up on her.

She grabbed a satchel and sketch book and climbed out her window. She jumped to the ground and walked through thick brush and trees to get to a dirt path. She followed the path to reach a bended and corroded gate, she shimmed her body through the bars and up some crumbly stairs.    She sat on the ground and quickly sketched out the landscape she was greeted with.

She put the sketch back in the bag and was met with a tall bush maze. It was dark so she took out a matchbook from her satchel and lit one up hoping to light up the way for her to see. It worked but not for long until it started burning her fingers. She lit a second match which went out quickly as well.

She decided to feel her away around the hedges and ended up with a few scratches on the hand. Suddenly her hand touched what felt like candle wax and candle holder. She pried the candle off the holder and lit the half burned wick. Vic smiled and tried to quickly find her way to the castle.

Victoria made her way out and she gasped when she saw where she was standing. In front of large metal doors and concrete pillars. She had never seen something like this up close. She took out the drawing pad and sketched what it all looked like.

Victoria quietly walked around the perimeter and found a staircase leading up to a courtyard with mostly dead plants. She looked around for the vampire but saw nothing but a few candle lights from the windows. She heard footsteps from behind her and she quickly hid herself behind flower beds.

She peeped her head just above the flower beds to see shadows walking along the hallways. Her eyes widened as she didn't see one shadow but four. Vic had only ever heard of the one who ruled the castle and no book she read ever talked about the possibility of several others.

She instantly wrote down what she saw. She started to hear loud voices, seemed like they got closer. Vic blew out the candle to not give away her hiding spot. She tried to make out sentences but could only hear a few words. Only thing she could make out was something about going into town, her dad, and how empty the castle felt.

Victoria took that as a sign to get out of there immediately. She booked it down the stairs and through the hedges and back to her house. She climbed through the window and fell to the floor exhausted. Her breathing was heavy and face red. She accepted defeat and lied on the ground.

"What are you doing?!" a small voice erupted from the door. Vic sat up and panicked, "Just go back to bed and mind your business!"

"Where did you go? You're not supposed to leave the house without dad's permission," her little sister said. "I'll buy you chocolate and fruit if you promise not to tell dad," Vic begged with her hands together. "Deal," said the sister with a smirk.
