Author's note:

Sorry for the very long wait. 😔 I got busy and then had writer's block for a bit before getting myself back on track.

For my fellow beginner writers out there, writer's block WILL happen to you at some point, so it's important to not forget the plot points and know the main purpose of the MC's life in your story. Don't do what I did. 😆 Updates every Monday!

I miss my yellow-tinted beetle. Yellow not because it was her default colour, but because of age. It made me appreciate her even more, going through so much.

"Unity-"

"Don't talk to me," I said to one twin, too lazy to look at which one called my name. They didn't talk to me for 30 minutes, why should I let them talk to me now when I already came to terms with their quietness?

That, and I don't want to hear what they're about to say. Maybe they're mad I killed their friend, and they're going to list down all the things they have done for me and then I'll feel bad but also angry since I didn't ask for them to do those things and then--

I'm getting way ahead of myself here.

I have to communicate with them, lest they misunderstand what I did. I sighed before starting to tell them what those people did.

"I killed those scavengers."

They looked shocked, probably because it doesn't look like I can, with me being 5'5, a woman and all that shit. But given what happened, what I did to Sylvia and leaving the people of Clark Freeport to fend for themselves without a leader, they shouldn't be.

"I was done looting the neighboring village near my subdivision called Bulaon, where I previously lived. During my scavenging, I always saw the same helicopter whirring around the village. So, I planned to get the helicopter's attention by firing my flare gun. I prepared for it, fortifying five houses as zombies were shambling around, and you know how zombies are sensitive to sounds."

They both nodded as I took a deep breath before continuing, "I fired the flare gun but the helicopter didn't see, so I considered it a fail and ran to the second fortified house only for those animals to take me hostage inside it. Their leader, who I didn't bother knowing the name of, put a gun on my head as he fondled my breast." I snorted, trying to play off the sexual harassment as a joke, but it never was. I still have nightmares about it, and it made me want to take a bath and scrub my skin raw. Especially the places where he fucking touched me.

"The gun that he pointed at my head, I used it to bust his kneecaps and shot the remainder of his squad, seeing as they had no firearms in their bodies, only melee."

"So, I fed them to the zombies outside. I don't know..." I was absent-mindedly looking somewhere while still miraculously driving towards my destination. "That was the very first time I killed people, not a zombie, but a person. A living being. And I enjoyed it."

I stopped on the side of the road and put their jeep in park, looking them both in the eyes this time.

"I know that you both had a contingency plan as I saw how quick you both got your things packed already as if you were preparing for it." I looked at them, noticing how Onyx's shoulder was bleeding again and I grimaced, "This is where both of you get to decide whether I stay or go. You were already leaving Clark Freeport, I just sped things up a bit. There's no need to lie to me either, I can smell it from a mile away."
