The sun had risen long after Beomgyu had woken up.

When Taehyun had knocked on the door at 6 this morning he pretended that he had been asleep for hours but he knew that Taehyun could see through it.

Especially when they stopped at the convenience store on the way to the bus stop.
Taehyun had gotten him an energy drink and handed it to him without saying a word.

Very little, could he get past his best friend.

"So Mom already got all your classes scheduled and everything so we just have to go by the office when we get there.
They should have your schedule."

Taehyun toed at a loose rock as they waited.
His vans were worn and scuffed but somehow they fit the school uniform perfectly.
A black and grey sleek design, a tie and collared shirt to match.
It was an odd school uniform. He had never seen any university done such dark colors but he guessed it was ironic in a way.

Black and grey.
Like mourning clothes.

He hadn't gotten the uniform.
When Taehyun came out this morning wearing it, he had panicked before Taehyun told him that it was optional.
'I just didn't have anything else I wanted to wear today.'
He had said.

Apparently the dress code wasn't enforced and students could wear whatever they wanted.
The uniform was a simple option for most students but not mandatory.

So Beomgyu had just thrown on a hoodie and pulled on a pair of jeans, grabbing his converse on the way out.

He should be nervous, probably.

But he just couldn't bring himself to that point.

Somewhere in the back of his mind, blood and bones were flashing constantly, and cold ice bit at his thoughts.
He had an especially bad nightmare.
This one wanted to linger.

No, he couldn't bring himself to nerves.
He had enough chaos sitting with him at the moment.

"Gyu, ya know.."
Taehyun voice was uneasy, like he was dancing around trying to tell him something.

"Yeah?"

"The people at this school can be, weird sometimes. Just- well..."
Taehyun hair ruffled as the wind blew. He shrunk down on his uniform jacket, Beomgyu thought it must be cold to wear that thing in winter.

"Just, stay close by me please, and my friends, they'll help you. I just don't want anything to happen."
Taehyun's round eyes were genuine, light brown glinting in the rising sun.

"I'm not helpless, Tae. But I get it, I'll stick close."

Even as the words left his mouth there was something about the look Taehyun gave him that had him thinking otherwise.
Like he knew better.

He couldn't blame him.

Taehyun was always the one who had to come around and save him in middle school,
when the bullies started picking again.

It was too often that things like that had happened.
But it was enough that Beomgyu couldn't remember exactly how many times it had.
