English had went by quickly, the teacher only assigning a reading for the class and a discussion about the text at the end.Unfortunately though, Beomgyu had gotten called on since he was 'the new kid' and he had to answer some of the questions the teacher asked.
The class it's self was pretty thin. Most of the seats were empty, and so he took the one at the back of class. Unfortunately this room didn't have windows.
"Mr. Choi, would you like to comment?"
The teacher said, the flimsy book pinned to position in one hand."I'm sorry, what was the question?"
The teacher gave him a look, and then repeated himself.
"Why do you think Macbeth chooses suicide?"
He thought for moment, and decided he would probably be best bullshitting his way through the answer.
He hadn't read the text.
"I think Lady Macbeth becoming sick was the final straw for him. He worked hard, did unspeakable thing and his wife, who told him to do it, was laying in a bed dying."
He paused and looked down at the last page, open on his desk."He was guilty, he killed his best friend and their children and he couldn't handle it. He was no longer under Lady Macbeth's influence. The devil on his shoulder was gone. He couldn't blame on his action on anyone but hisself."
Again, another pause.
"It's like that saying, from the devil's perspective. 'I didn't make you do anything, you did all that on your own.' Lady Macbeth only showed him the option and gave him the opportunity and he took it.
Yes, Lady Macbeth might have urged him to kill the king, but he killed his best friend on his own accord. Being told to do something and actually doing it are different things for a reason. I think that's he understood that when his wife fell ill, and realized what he had done was on him, not her."The teacher stood silent for a moment he nodded, a smile creeping its way onto his face.
"Very good, Mr.Choi. You'll ace the test we have Friday if you keep it up."
And with that Beomgyu sat down.
A few sideways glances went his way, and more whispers around the room then he expected.
But then again...
He had read and watched the play months ago for his summer reading and book report.
But he guessed the teacher didn't know that.
Or he did, and he wanted to test his retention.Either way, he didn't like how some of the students looked at him weird.
He was probably gonna get asked to do someone's homework or help them cheat on the test.
And then when he denied them...
They'd say 'Or else.'

Which funny enough is exactly what happened when the class ended.
