Chapter 6

Next day I was with Kiri in the water looking sand. She wanted to show me something that moved under the sand.

I was sightly confused until a saw something moving under it. After some time we saw shadows approaching. Kiri and I stood up "huh what did you say?" She asked them.

"Are you guys some kind of freaks?" Aonung said. "He asked if you're freaks." Rotxo repeated his words. I made quick eye contact with Aonung before walking away.

They followed us judging and laughing. "Leave us alone" Kiri said to them. As we were trying to get away when Loak came "You heard her leave them alone".

As they were about to fight Neteyam came. "Hey, leave them alone." he threatened. Aonung's friend started to say something but he raised his hand to shut him.

"Good and for now on I need you to respect my sisters." Neteyam told him and took Loak away from there.

As we were going we heard them say something. "Loak." I heard Neteyam call after him. "I got this, bro." Loak said as I turned around. He went towards Aonung. "Loak." I said hoping he'd listen to me but he didn't.

"I know it looks weird," he said showing his hand, "alien but it can do something very cool." Aonung looked at him like he's crazy. "You see you put your hand like this and then," he then punched him in the face three times. "It's called a punch, bitch" he shouted and all the hell broke lose.

Neteyam joined in a little after. "Childish." Kiri said then laughed. I giggled. Soon it was tail pulling and punching match. I couldn't just stand there and watch so I jumped in.

I punched some guy off of Neteyam and dragged him few feet away. Then I went for Aonung who was fighting with Loak. I punched him away from him. He went to punch me but stopped when he realised it was me.

He froze staying on top of me his fist still raised. I heard Neteyam yell "get off of my sister". Aonung was pushed off and Neteyam helped me up. Dad was there too dragging Loak with him.

When at the hut he was clearly angry. "What was one thing I asked, one thing?" He asked. "To stay out of trouble" "To stay out of trouble." Neteyam said and dad repeated the words, just stricter. "But dad they were making fun of Kiri and Ava." Loak said and his eyes softened a bit.

"Sir, I take full responsibility." Neteyam said. "No you gotta stop taking the fault of this knuckhead." dad argued back. He looked at me then back to Loak. "Go apologise to Aonung right now." he said.

"What? no, he started it." Loak argued but it was pointless. "Look I don't know how you do it but go and apologise to him" Dad sighed. Loak walked out of the hut and Neteyam was about to leave too but dad stopped him, "how others looked like?" he asked Neteyam. "Worse." he answered.

"Good." Dad mumbled. "A lot worse." Neteyam was now smiling a bit. "Now get out of here." Dad said and turned to me "Avyanna-"

 "No," I argued, "why is suddenly the chiefs son more important than your own children?" he looked at me wide eyes but then again went serious.

"Avyanna it's not that simple, Tonowari is the chief, something wrong and he could throw us out." Dad said coming closer but I moved away. "Ava," he tried but gave up when he realised I won't react.

"You're free to go." he said quietly. I basically ran out of there wanting to get away from all of that. I went to my quiet place, I found a while ago and I go there every time I need alone time. For its beauty I chose that place.

I called my Ilu and jumped on it. We went to the cave. Above the water was a place where I would always lay down and rest. I would always admire the beauty the cave shows.

After an hour or two I went back as it was getting late. Tuk and Kiri ran towards me as I was walking on the beach. "Ava there you are," Kiri said hugging me tightly. "Wow, what's wrong?" I asked confused.

"We thought you're with Loak since he's missing." She said while Tuk is just hugging me and not letting go. "What do you mean he's missing?" I asked worried. "Aonung and his friends though it would be funny if they leave him outside of reef." Kiri told me as we were walking to my parents.

As we got to others we saw dad and some other man brought Loak into the shore. I ran towards him, "Loak," and brought him into a big hug. Then I let go of him letting mom to get to him.

"Oh thank Eywa I will not be taking eyes out of my youngest son." mom said through her teeth. I avoided dad's eyes and focused on Loak. I know he was right but it still hurts.

"No, my son knows better than to take him outside the reef, the fault is his." The chief spoke forcing his son to kneel. I made eye contact with Aonung and I saw regret in his eyes.

"No it was my idea, he tried to talk me out of it." Loak argued when dad bushed him forward. We looked at him in shock. Dad grabbed him and then rushed away from the crowd us close behind.

"What were you thinking?" Dad asked clearly frustrated. "Dad you're the one who wanted us to make friends." Loak said.

"You've brought shame to this family, now go." as he said that I was shocked to hear dad say that. "And where were you huh?" Dad asked Neteyam as he saw him, "what happened to keeping eye on your brother?". "Sorry sir." was the only thing he answered before going.

"And where have you been young lady" dad asked now turning to me. "Nowhere important." I answered him with a little attitude looking down.

"Hey watch your tongue before I cut it out." he threatened before going to our hut. "Loak has brought no shame to this family" I said loud enough for him to hear. He turned around "and why's that mh?" He asked crossing his arms.

"You're just scared that he's like you when you were younger." I answered with an attitude. "Avyanna," mother hissed. "You said that we should make friends and he was trying to do that but you're too blind to see that, as you're so focused on impressing the chief so we could stay." I yelled but not loud as I didn't want any unnecessary attention.

Dad was about to say something but decided against it. I went past him into the hut and sat down as far corner I could.
