We were soon chased out of the house by his mum with a broken glass. I can't believe he lives like this.

We sat in the car in silence as he drove, I didn't know where but I trust him enough to not kill me. I want to say something but it must be a touchy subject for him.

"I don't go there very often by the way... yesterday was the first time I stayed overnight since I was 11... I thought she was going to try to kill herself."
He grumbled, it is like he was trying to make excuses for her.

I can't believe she did all that to him within 24 hours... his whole body was covered. He must be in so much pain.

Once we reached the safe part of town I told him to pull over, which he did.

"I saw all your injuries... you can't stay there any longer. You need to get out, permanently." I mumbled, avoiding eye contact in fear of his reaction.

"If I do that I end up in the foster system again. I'll be put in a group home. I'd rather stay here, it's just for a few days. It doesn't even hurt." He chuckled, he's clearly trying to appear tougher.

"Well then that's another problem, it should hurt. Not that I'm hoping it does or anything but its worrying that it doesn't." I explained, reaching for his hand which he quickly pulled away.

"Why do you even care?! It doesn't matter to you! I don't need your fucking opinion and judgements! She's my mum, it's my life! Yeah she may be a horrible person but I can't let her kill herself then I'll be gone, permanently. At least while she's alive my social worker can't move me far away!" He barked, taking me by surprise.

I shyed away, towards the opposite end of the car. I watched as he began driving again, towards the school. His knuckles were white due to his tight grip on the wheel.

We arrived back at the school and he didn't move. "Get out." He scoffed. I quickly got out the car, in fear of his anger.

*Colin's pov*

I sat in my car for 2 hours, just thinking.

Who does she think she is! So fucking judgemental! She doesn't know me, or my situation! She has no right to make assumptions! Who's to say that my mum isn't a good mum when she is sober?

She is a good mum. She's just... she's going through stuff. I mean.. my dad left her with no warning... anyone would fall down her path in her situation.. right?

To get drunk enough they'd beat their son black and blue... right?

To get drunk enough to throw a bottle at their son's face.. right?

To take a hot cigarette and press it against their son's skin... right?

To take a leather belt that used to belong to their father and hit them until they physically can't fight back... right?

I rested my head against the wheel, squeezing my eyes shut. I took a deep breath before picking up my phone and looking for my social worker's number.

"Colin? How are you? I haven't heard from you in a while." Sarah's familiar voice echoed from the opposite line. I took in a deep breath and opened my mouth to speak.

"How quickly can you get to my school?"

I waited for an answer and after a few seconds I got one, "15 minutes probably, are you okay?" Her voice was noticeably concerned.

"I've just tried to kill myself. I've got about 3 minutes before I pass out." I groaned. I'm going to regret this.

"I'm on my way, I'll send an ambulance too. Where are you in your school?" She asked as my eye sight went blurry.

"In my car, outside."

That's the last thing I remember before I blacked out.

*Lily's pov*

I was sat in English. That's when I heard the sirens. Immediately, people's heads started to dart round the room in an attempt to work out what was happening.

My head turned to the window where I heard a perfect view of the car park, Logan and Callums doing the same.

All 3 of our eyes spotted the paramedics walking towards Colins car before we locked eyes and ran out the room.

I was first out, watching as they dragged him out his car with blood dripping out his mouth, nose and ears. Oh god. What's happened?!

I watched the paramedics push down on his chest and pump air into his lungs. There's no way this is happening.

"WE'VE GOT A PULSE, QUICKLY GET HIM TO THE HOSPITAL. SOMEONE CHECK HIS CAR FOR ANY PILLS." one paramedic yelled while placing Colin on a stretcher.

"Colin? Colin?! Colin!" I called out as they lifted him inside. I heard the man that was checking his car shout out to the others, "Blood thinning medication, anti depressants and pain killers! 3 bottles of blood thinning, 2 of anti depressants and one of pain killers, all empty!"

Oh my god. There's no way! He tried to kill himself!
