When Sloan Casey was at her lowest point at 17, she met Alex Abrams. Though sheltered it was almost as if Alex brought her back to life through her struggles. But after falling for Alex, the last thing she expected was for him to ghost her.
But what...

Standing outside the schools red doors scared me. I didn't want to walk through them, I didn't want to go into the school setting. Where no friends of mine existed, no future and simply pain.
The doors unlocked and students flooded in. Luckily first block was study hall, so I had a meeting with Mrs.Simmons my guidance counselor.
I went down the long passage way with flickering yellow lights that burned my eyes due to the hour. Then I found the counselors suite and pushed open the door. A lady sat behind a desk with a smile "I'm meeting with Mrs.Simmons"
"Great, she's the last door to your left" I nod and quickly made my way down the hall and stopped at a door laced with college flags. Before I could knock the door opened
"Sloan, it's great to meet you!" I was ushered in as the door sat behind me. She gestured to the purple arm chair in the corner and I took a seat.
"So it's your senior year. I know coming in late can be overwhelming but you did your first quarter online, so your not really behind which is good. Lots of kids don't even do the work!" She sat down in a bejeweled chair across from me.
"So tell me, what are your plans for post secondary life?" That's right, the college talk. The one that I dreaded, because whatever my future was, it wasn't clear. I had idea, but accomplishing it was a whole other challenge.
"I want to go to college for law and psychology" she gave me a weird look and then adjusted herself.
"Well a double major is very hard, I think focusing on one would be good" I was smart, I just didn't apply myself a lot. But I had a stellar SAT score but minimal extra curriculars and I knew that would be a problem.
"I want to do both"
"Okay, we'll sort that out later than" I sighed and just nodded wanting this to already be over.
"So do you know where you'd like to go?"
"Pepperdine or New York University" she sucked in her lip as if I said something fulsome
"Those are great choices, but I think we'll need to throw in some safeties" I leaned back into the chair growing more irritable with each passing minute.
"I'm going to one of them, end of story" I could see it across her face, the doubt she held was enormous. But I've been almost a straight A student for four years and I have the volunteer hours. Back when I did stuff with my life.
"I'm just going to make you a list okay?" I sighed and nodded "yep" I stood from the arm chair.
"We aren't done yet?" I glared back to the purple couch and then to her.
