"I'm going and that's final."

"No, you're not." Ebony retorted as she followed me into the kitchen.

"Ebony." I groaned in annoyance. "We've been going back and forth for a week. I've wasted enough time. I'm going."

"Huey." Ebony sighed. "Listen to yourself. You're planning to go to a prison, steal some guy's records, and hunt him down?"

"He's not some guy. He's the guy who killed my parents." I scowled. "You don't even know that for sure." She argued.

I crossed my arms. "I thought you were on my side."

"Oh Huey, of course I'm on your side, but now this is illegal!"

"Would you keep your voice down?"

"I'm not going to just going to stand by and watch you get yourself thrown in jail!"

"I said keep your voice down." I groaned at her.

"Huey-"

"What y'all talkin' about?" Riley said, walking into the kitchen.

"Nothing." Ebony and I said simultaneously.

He looked at us weirdly before sitting down at the table, starting to text on his phone.

"We're talking about this later." Ebony whispered to me before walking to the counter to start making breakfast.

I rolled my eyes, pulling out my phone to check for notifications.

I scowled at my device with Ebony noticing.

"What is it?" She asked as she cracked the eggs.

"Jazmine." I said. "This is the third time this week she's rescheduled to work on our project. I've barely seen her outside of class."

Ebony was silent for a moment. "Maybe she's just busy?"

"Or maybe she ain't talkin' to you 'cause you gay." Riley snickered which I ignored.

Something's up.

I closed my school locker, turning to make my way to class.

I've decided and I can't let Ebony talk me out of it anymore.

After school, I'm going to Wuncler Correctional Centre.

If Christopher Barnes is still alive, and he really did kill my parents, I can't just let him roam free.

I need to find him.

It's time to know the truth.

As I turned a corner, I paused, seeing Jazmine up ahead.

I noticed some guy walking and laughing with her.

I immediately scowled.

Who is he?

Before I knew it, I was walking in their direction.

~ Jazmine ~

"You didn't have to carry my bag..." I smiled at Mark as we walked to my locker.

"Now what kind of gentleman would I be if I didn't?" He joked as I giggled.

Honestly, for the past week, getting to know Mark has been kinda amazing.

He's so sweet, kind, and handsome.

And totally into me.

I felt myself get all giddy as I opened my locker, taking my bag from him.
