"McHater said wut?" I asked, walking alongside Ebony down the school hallway.

"Someone spiked my drink, Jake." Ebony told me as my body tensed up.

Damn.

What if she find out?

"Uh, you sure baby?" I then asked.

"It's the only explanation, Jake. You got me a coke. And that's all I had." Ebony explained with a sigh. "Someone must've spiked it when I wasn't looking."

"Yeah..." I scratched the back of my head.

I mean, I ain't gonna tell her what I did. I was just pressed about that punk Caesar.

He don't get to have my baby making promises to him.

I did what I did outta love.

I ain't wrong for that.

"Ouch..." Ebony winced as I looked at her in confusion. "Wut is it?"

"My leg." She whined. "On Friday, I fell on glass and cut myself. Plus my head is still killing me. I don't know if it's the concussion or if I'm still hungover."

Ebony then sighed deeply. "I hate that someone did this to me. What kind of person does that?"

I felt myself tense up again.

"Uh... Ion know, baby." I shrugged before wrapping my arm around her. "But you'll be aight."

"To make things worse, Caez hasn't been answering my calls..." She said sadly.

I rolled my eyes. "So?"

She then looked up at me. "What if he's upset with me? Or us?"

Pfft, ion care if homie's mad.

I hope he mad.

"Baby, it's fine. Don't worry about it." I shrugged it off as she sighed again, but nodded.

"Ugh, I hate Mr. Mason!" Jazmine exclaimed as we walked out of class.

"You hate our math teacher?" I quirked my eyebrow. "Yes, yes I do! He's so annoying, and makes everything so hard!" She huffed.

"It's not his fault you fail to understand the math concepts." I said plainly as Jazmine dramatically gasped, shoving me.

"Huey!" She frowned, but I couldn't help smirking at her frustration.

"It's not funny!" Jazmine tried to keep her frown, but ended up giggling before she continued to go on.

However, my mind is on my mission.

I still need to visit Wuncler Correctional Center, and I need to do it today.

I'm no longer grounded and Jazmine now knows the truth.

Well, part of the truth.

I've stalled long enough. The only way I'll confirm that Christopher Barnes is responsible for my parents' death is if I know who he is and how to find him.

It's decided. I'm going to the prison.

Today.

"Huey? Are you listening to me?" I turned to see Jazmine looking at me.

"Huh?"

"I said after school we could go to the hill to work on our history project." She suggested with a smile.

I hesitated. "I can't. I have to go somewhere today."

"Oh, where?" Jazmine asked as I hesitated again. "Somewhere in town." I said casually.
