"No one would harm you again. Do you hear me?" Wayne's voice resonates with a level of assertiveness. Ivory's eyes pop open wide finding his. Warmth tugs his heart and a sudden euphoria engulfs him. But her face shows that his intentions might have scared them. "I will never allow you harm. I want you to trust me. It's not easy, I know, but I want you to give me a chance, okay?" he lowers his tone, dressing it with a coat of tenderness that only someone could address to his mate.
Feeling her hands shaking under his hold, he gives a gentle squeeze to reassure her. Her dark pools of water, fill with tears and dread. For how long she has to feel safe?
Wayne pushes the chair next to him to the side with his leg so it looks directly at him and he brings his hands forward, guiding her slowly to sit opposite him. She follows without any sign of protest. When Ivory takes a seat - still holding her hands - he lands them on her knees.
"Can you tell me what you remember from last night? Don't forget, I'm here to help you," he whispers, highlighting the importance of trusting him.

In the meantime, Ivory feels like a leaf in the wind. When she offered herself up for punishment and saw Wayne standing, she thought that the bubble she was living in for almost a day was about to burst and soon the pain would accompany her life again. Though what happened almost shocked her.
Not in her wildest dreams had imagined such compassion, especially from an Alpha. His gesture and expression of concern had touched her so much that tears started to gather under her eyes. Is he for real?
Ivory pushes herself to remember but her memory is faint. It must be whatever they gave her that night that immediately placed her into a haze. She closes her eyes and searches deeper within the paths of her mind. She could feel small furrows on her skin as her eyebrows knit together. With her vision blocked for the moment, the rest of her senses amplify.
Wayne's hands are still on top of hers. His warmth is soothing and relaxing. He gently rubs his fingers on her skin to show her he's here, supporting her. Why is he so nice to me? Am I really worth it? His scent is stronger than before - the pure breeze of the mountains and pines and male - all mix in the air as she takes a deep breath to concentrate. When her body responds positively to his presence and her shoulders finally relax a bit, a few images resurface.
"I was in my tent after Alice, Alpha Remus' daughter left to be with her mate in a pack up the north." she trembles as the memory becomes clearer. "It was the night my wolf woke up and I shifted for the first time. She helped me go back to my human form."
Wayne gives her another squeeze. "That's very good. Anything else?" he encourages her to continue, his voice warm and soft, caressing her ears and keeping her calm.
"I heard something, and I thought is still Alice, returning back to the tent. The very next moment, someone attacked me from the back, I only saw a hand with a small wet towel on it, pressing on my face. When I woke up my head was heavy, I was feeling like dream walking and everything was blurred. Other girls were there too. We were all dressed..." she suddenly stops and opens her eyes wide while shock spreads across her face. "Oh, I'm so sorry you had to see me in those clothes. So embarrassing." she sinks her eyes down where she spots her hands, still hugged by his.
Ivory takes a brief glance at his forearms, how the muscles ripple as he shifts and keep rubbing the outside of her hands with his fingers. A strange spark ignites in her chest and the heat fills her cheeks with light rouge causing her to close her eyes again and concentrate.
"The girls were screaming each time a man was stepping into the room we were in and grabbed one of them. I was left last. As the man came back for me, he pierced me with something at the back of my neck as he was pushing me to walk forward. Before I get out of the corridor, I felt dizzy again. When I found my senses, I was here."

So, she's a late bloomer, that's why I didn't sense it earlier. Wayne realised as Ivory was recalling the events. She was putting a lot of effort to remember and he wanted to show her that he was by her side. So he kept giving gentle rubs to her hands with his fingers and soft squeezes to give her courage. What she went through was...
As she keeps telling him what happened she suddenly looks up at him, conquered by shock. Wayne's heart tugged. He wanted so desperately to hug her, to shove all her fears away. To find whoever is responsible for her suffering and revenge for anything they've done to her. But even holding her hand was risky at the moment and a bold gesture.
The tears that he'd seen earlier now were rolling down her face and her breath became uneven. Shifting himself to come closer, he takes one hand away from her palms and lands it at the nape of her neck.
"It's all over. Everyone is safe." he lightly wipes her tears with his thumb. Her soft skin is so smooth as his finger lingers on it, making his skin tingle where friction is created. "All the fairies and you are safe and sound." They have been transported to a fellow pack in the northwest where they will be settled in the sanctuary we have created. We also send there our newly shifted to be trained. If..." Wayne stops gathering strength to mouth words that apparently will hurt him, "you want you can go there. It's totally your choice."
Ivory's eyes find his once more. They sparkle with hope and Wayne thinks there's no better view than those eyes, looking happy at him. The muscles in her mouth are struggling as she wants to smile in relief but she's not sure if this nightmare is over. "Are you sure, whoever did this, will not find us?" her voice heavy with emotion.
Wayne nods giving her a soft smile. "Yes, they won't find you. And if they do, I'll give you my word that I'll give everything to stop them." The words were flowing so naturally out of him. If she knew the truth...
His train of thought abruptly stops when Ivory throws herself at him, spreading her arms to circle around him, and landing on his upper back, squeezing him in a tight hug. "I don't know how to thank you," she says between sobs that drench Wayne's shirt. "I'm forever in debt to you. I cannot do enough to repay the salvation you have given me, so I offer myself at your service." she bows her head.
"That means, you'll stay here?" he breathes out. The need to express how he truly felt for her was poking him while he was cautious not to blow his cover. But to hell with that. When he will be officially the Alpha of the Silver Spear pack, he will change everything. Even the law that prohibits an Alpha to mate with an Omega.
