"I thought mates are not connected until the mate is completed. That changes the rules!" Lola and Daniel exclaim the last sentence in unison, looking at Wayne amazed. "That connection between you two is truly rare," Daniel adds adjusting the glasses on his nose.
"I know," Wayne breathes, passing his hands through his hair. "How's that possible?"
"I'll have to speak with the elders," Lola states putting her jacket on. "As far as I know, I've never heard of something like that happening in the past. Maybe they can help."
"Thanks." Wayne turns to her before she opens the door and vanishes from sight.
"I'll prepare a mix of herbs to have with you. It will help you a lot with your urges." Daniel's voice makes Wayne turn his attention back to him. "You seem in need of release, and I think you'll count on yourself for the time being until you two are closer." He mocks, pointing with his index finger between Wayne's thighs where a bulge still existed despite that a good amount of time had passed since what happened with Ivory.
All of a sudden, a soft knock makes both stand still like statues. Wayne's heart starts racing again. He could feel his eyes glowing with that spark again and his pants feeling suffocatingly painful. "Sit behind your desk and please try not to sit up, unless you want to scare her," Daniel whispers raising his arm in the air to block Wayne's path towards the door. "I'll get the door."
Wayne did as the doctor ordered and planted himself behind the desk, shifting on the chair so he could be as comfortable as he could. His eyes pinned on the door, waiting impatiently for Daniel to open it and meet her eyes. As Daniel walked to the door and pushed the handle down, the wooden wall separating them started to move aside. Wayne was on edge with his heart pumping like crazy from anticipation. His hands were sweaty and he felt the room was on fire from the increased heat emanating from his body.
Her small frame appeared as Daniel stepped aside, and his heart melted on the spot. Her body was covered with a dress – that probably Lola had given her. The dark green fabric felt loose on her. Female wolves had deliciously round curves and hers were hidden from prolonged starvation and suffering. Her wavy hair was falling gracefully, resting around her shoulders, and her hands were folded in front of her tummy. Her eyes – those eyes that could put Wayne's soul on fire – were constantly looking down, avoiding eye contact with anyone.
Ivory did a small bow. "Thank you for accepting to see me Alpha," her voice came out low, nearly audible to those present in the room.
"Excuse me, I have some urgent matters to attend to," Daniel hurriedly stated fixing his glasses again. "Nice to see you, Ivory. You look much better." He bid them goodbye before he opens the door exiting the room.
The room felt heavy with their silence. Filled with the absence of all the things Wayne wished to say. All the things he wanted to do. He wanted to express his love for her. He wanted to get lost in this intoxicating feeling of being close to her. Stroking her skin with his hands. Mixing his scent with hers. Tasting her full lips.
"How are you feeling?" Wayne gathers his composure. He was fucking worried but he shouldn't show the level of his agony at the moment. After all, she had no idea. Only he knew and it was killing him slowly from within.
Not taking his eyes off her since she walked in, he gets surprised when he sees her body momentarily freeze upon his question. A soft tremble spread over her body, with a clear view of its effect. She opens her mouth to speak, but there's a cloud of fear and uncertainty covering her features.
"You are honouring me with your question, Alpha," she manages to say "I'm feeling much better." Her voice sounds fragile and weak as if she's afraid of the words to speak.
"The reason I requested to see you is to learn more about the situation you found yourself into. But also, to learn more about you. From the moment you entered the gates of the Silver spear pack, you are now one of us." he let his voice come out confident and dominant - like an Alpha should sound like - but not too stern to frighten her.
For a minute, she wanted to see him. Her reaction was crystal clear. But something was holding her back and Ivory stayed with her eyes glued on the floor. "That's kind of you. But first, please let me apologise for the shame I have brought to you. It was not my intention to provoke you. To redeem, I offer myself to you to choose my punishment." her voice cracks with dread.
Rage flew into Wayne's system. The way she so easily submitted to a potential punishment indicated that this was something happening very often to her. How much he wanted to find those responsible to rip their heads off. The need to get close to her was greater than ever. Ignoring his inner struggle, Wayne shoves the chair back as he stands up. He starts circling the desk standing obstacle between them. Ivory's body starts to shake. Slowing down his pace, he reaches and takes a seat in one of the chairs so he brings his eyes to the same level as her face.
His hands lift mid-air, making a gesture to reach for her hands. "May I?" his voice comes out like a sweet whisper. Ivory opens her mouth to speak but takes a shaky breath in. Wayne waits patiently with his heart tugging until she finally gives a soft nod. His arms reach up to hers. He gently wraps his fingers around her palms. They're cold. The difference is evident. Her small hands are entirely covered by his. So cute. So delicate. His thumbs start rubbing the outside of her palms. This simple gesture makes warmth fill his chest, spreading through his body. Like the tiniest physical touch of her gives him life.
