Ivory stood silent, her mouth slightly open but no voice could make its way out. She looked like a fish out of the water, opening her mouth and immediately closing it unable to speak. Lola's words started to sink into her brain.

Lola's bright smile starts to fade, turning into a mask of concern. "Ivory, please talk to me. You scare me." she placed both hands on her shoulders, rubbing them gently with her thumbs. "Take deep breaths, okay?"

Lola started breathing profoundly and soon Ivory was unstuck from the wolds she'd been lost into, mimicking her moves. Fresh air started to flow back into her lungs and out, taking with it the sorrow. She mentally prayed to the goddess to give her strength to hold back the tears gathering under her eyes, but it was impossible.

With a loud gasp, Ivory releases her sadness over Lola's shoulder. Tears cascade down her features and don't take long before they turn to sobs. Lola is there, opening her arms and closing Ivory into a comforting hug. "It's okay, I'm here. Let it out," she whispered as her hand began slowly stroking Ivory's back.

They stayed silent holding onto each other until there were no more tears to shed and Ivory's breath started returning to normal. Lola pushed her gently back to take a look at her face. Ivory's eyes were puffy from the long minutes of crying. Reaching to the side, Lola grabbed a tissue and lightly swept the remains of the tears moisturising her cheeks.

"Please, let me help you." Lola gives her a smirk.

Ivory takes a shaky breath in. "This is wrong." Her voice comes out hoarse.

Lola tilts her head to the side, taking a better look at Ivory. "This is the most magnificent thing that could happen between two mates. It means that they came finally so close that the bond starts to form."

Ivory shakes her head sideways. "No, Lola. This is not supposed to happen. I shouldn't have a mate. I'm a born Omega. And instead, I have a mate that's already mated with another one and has a family."

"Oh... It's so..." Lola's voice gradually vanishes as the words reach her ears.

Ivory grounds herself and slowly disentangles from Lola's hug. Finding her composure, she opens her mouth to speak. "Is there something to prevent the bond from forming?"

"You mean a medicine?" Lola questions puzzled.

Ivory nods in agreement. "Something that would not make me feel... like now."

"I'm afraid not," Lola states and Ivory's shoulders drop.

Ivory eyes find Lola, pleading silently to her. "But I feel like bleeding. This can't be stopped somehow?"

Lola's eyes shot open wide as she jolts herself from the bed. "Where are you bleeding?" Her eyes scan quickly Ivory's body for open wounds. Ivory shows the area between her thighs. To her surprise, there are no blood marks on her clothes.

But something else, a scent strikes her nose.

Lola's eyes grow wide as revelation hits her. "Oh no, you are not bleeding. You're aroused. Wolves during heat, have high chances for offspring. So, they are getting prepared for more frequent mating."

Ivory puts her palm in front of her mouth, gagging the shock. "Please Lola, there must be something to subdue the symptoms. I cannot perform the blessing at the ceremony feeling like that! Please, I beg you."

Lola huffs, looking around as if the answer is lurking somewhere in the room. "I can give you an ointment that you have to spread on your tummy. It will help you relax and possibly lower the tension of the symptoms of the heat. But it cannot erase it."

Reaching for her medical bag, placed on the floor, she retrieves a small glass vase containing a thick red liquid. "Thank you." Ivory bows her head, receiving the vase.

"If you feel unwell I want you to inform me immediately," Lola speaks with concern as she turns to face her one more time before she exits Ivory's room.

Ivory sighed, falling back on the bed, the ointment vase still in her hands. A sudden wave of warmth explodes inside her chest, spreading across her body. Cold sweat trickles down her face and shivers run down her spine. The heat flows into her veins, leaving a slight burning feeling as it travels to stop at the area between her thighs.

Her core starts to drip with liquid lust. Ivory's hands turn to fists, gripping the sheets as a storm of emotions stirs inside her. Her breathing picks up in pace, her chest starts moving up and down quickly. Although the room is cold and one of the windows is slightly open - welcoming the winter morning breeze - she feels like the room is on fire.

The emotions intensify, making her heart beat fast. Reaching the brink of desperation, she grabs her dress, rising up the fabric until her tummy is exposed to the morning cold weather.

Her fingers struggle to open the vase from the urgency of the situation. She's boiling from the inside, aroused and scared. Finally, a soft click fills the air and the cap starts turning. With trembling hands, she takes a good amount of the ointment and spreads it on her tummy. Putting the vase on the nightstand next to her, she stays lying down with eyes tightly shut, focusing on her breath, until the symptoms start to subdue and exhaustion takes over, drifting her into a deep sleep.

In the meantime, Wayne was restless, sleepless and highly annoyed. Since Ivory left the spring last night, he waited a few moments before he went out of the water, making sure that there were not any prying eyes lurking in the trees nearby, taking advantage of the fact that he was totally naked. He let his wolf surface and made the whole way back to the mansion in his beast form.

Wayne stopped in front of the hiding place he put on his clothes before entering the house.

Cold silence hit him. Everybody was exhausted - either from the preparations or the journey. Stepping with the skill of a stealth predator, he climbed up the stairs, halting in front of Ivory's room.

As he leaned against the door, the almost silent sobs of Ivory caused a stab in Wayne's chest. He brought one hand above his heart as if the stab was real. He didn't want to hurt her. Yet he did.

His lips were still numb with the imprint of her soft lips. But her heart is in pain because he was the cause of her tears. So, instead of opening the door and consoling her, he turned around and headed for his study.
