Wayne runs between the trees and bushes in the dense forest, avoiding the paths and going for a run in the perimeter of his pack. The air gently hit his face as he tried to get some steam off. Though, no matter how fast and how long he ran, the image of Ivory couldn't escape his mind.
Definitely, her time at the sanctuary in the north had made good to her. She was looking much healthier. Her skin was glowing brightly. She had gained some weight, forming curves that were haunting Wayne's mind with strange thoughts of tracing them with his hands and mouth popped into the mess in his head. Her lips - full and slightly reddish - were inviting him unintentionally to taste them.
His heart speeds up as the thoughts are dancing in circles in his mind. Why it has to be that way? He had other plans for his life. He had other plans for his Luna. His fated one. His true and only love. Now, he had Gina that in two days will be officially declared as Luna of the Silver Spear pack and a baby with her that will be his heir.
Pushing himself to remember, Wayne tried to trace all the times he mated with Gina. They were very few. He was mostly respectfully declined on that matter but he could give her pleasure in other ways. As she did to him. After the infected disease that perished so many wolves a long time ago, it was tough for wolves to procreate. That is why most of the packs were encouraging their young ones to look for a mate once they were entering adulthood in order to have plenty of time to have lots of pups.
Most of the pack's mated members claimed that took them at least six months or maybe more until they are blessed with a new life. It was too soon for us. But life has proved us wrong.
He was trying to decipher the feelings for Gina compared to Ivory. Unfortunately, it was not love that he was feeling for her. Kindness yes, and consideration for the child and her. But no love. His father had said one time that he would learn to love her eventually. But when?
His feelings for Ivory were the exact opposite. His heart was burning for her. His existence was nothing without her. There was a huge hole inside him, a missing part of his soul that only she could fill. He was so blessed to find her, yet he couldn't have her. The thought caused a wave of sadness to wash over him and he slowed down his pace.
It is then that Wayne realises where he is. Looking over the distance, the goddess temple appears through the trees, located on the spring of the moon, a natural beauty within his territory. Wayne closes his eyes and concentrates on his human form, allowing the transformation to begin. When his human form is back, Wayne walks carefully towards the temple. Thankfully, the way the air was blowing allows him to move without anyone noticing his scent. With stealth steps, he reaches as close as he can taking cover like a predator between the thick trees.
The view caused him to take a sharp breath in and his amber eyes glow as the sight of Ivory appears when the chanters circling her stepped aside. She's standing in the spring, before the goddess statue, with her hands clenched and plastered to her chest, and her sweet little voice, speaking prayers for prosperity, health and progress. His eyes left the back of her head and moved down. She was wearing a white dress - most looking like a veil - that was drenched from the water and glued on her curvy body tracing a perfect outline of her form. Wayne opened his mouth trying to breathe as his eyes take in every inch of her.
She's eye candy. His eye candy.
A growl sparks within him but manages to shove it down before someone hears him. Suddenly, the chant ends and the chanters bow their heads to Ivory before they say goodnight and walk up the path leading to the houses. Now it's us.
In the meantime, Ivory was feeling a weight on her shoulders and a sense of sadness inside her through the whole ritual of the prayers. She was happy to see Wayne again - well, her wolf was over the moon for that - and she was happy to see him strong and healthy with a wife by his side and a son. He so much deserves to be happy.
Then why did her heart tug when she saw his newly-formed family? Why a strange thought lurked in her mind. What if I was the one on his side? Shaking slightly her head she tried to get rid of that thought but something was eating her up from the inside. That strange feeling. That sorrow. Nonsense, I should stop thinking like that. What's wrong with me? Even my wolf sabotages me!
She spent the whole time of the prayers, wishing prosperity for the Silver Spear pack however, her inner prayers were all devoted to Wayne. He deserves to be happy, even if that pains my heart. Ivory couldn't understand why her body was reacting like this since the first time she met eyes with him. Why her heart was beating fast even upon thinking of him? Why her wolf was so excited to see him and restless? Why - although she didn't want to admit it - her skin craves his touch and her ears waiting patiently to hear him speaking her name? Don't be a fool, he's an Alpha now. An Alpha deserves the best. There's no way to throw the lover's look at someone like me. There's no way to want an Omega.
When the prayers were done, the chanters came in front of her and inclining their heads they wished her good night while they left to retire for the day. She gently returned the wish and stayed a bit longer to pray to the goddess.
"Oh silver goddess who shine upon us on this night, listen to the voice of your loyal servant. I'm so confused and torn. I cannot put in order my heart and mind. Please show me the right path. Show me a sign." she whispers with her eyes looking up at the statue's face.
A sigh escapes her lips once she finishes. Looking with melancholy painted on her face. The next second, a strange growl resonates from somewhere behind her, making her match the statue in front of her and her eyes grow wide.
