It's almost midday and the study feels empty although Wayne is still inside, buried beneath piles of reports and timetables. Only the half-empty bottle of scotch with an empty glass on his desk and the rhythmic tapping of his fingers on the wooden surface indicate his presence.

His hair is ruffled and the sleeves of his shirt are rolled up to his elbows. A thin coat of sweat rests on his forehead. Browsing through the piles, Wayne tries to put this chaos in order. Silver Spear pack has never been busier. More guests are expected to arrive and the preparations feel never-ending.

However, none of those things was the reason for Wayne's unease. He could feel tingly all over and a craving feeling was burning inside him, making him shift position on his chair as the thoughts of Ivory were giving him a boner.

A strong knock at the door makes him momentarily drift his eyes away from the papers scattered on his desk. Voicing his permission to enter, the door opens and Rhys walks in. "Where the hell have you been all day?" Rhys spits standing before Wayne's desk, crossing his arms in front of his chest.

"I'm looking through the reports and making some changes to the programmes," Wayne nonchalantly says, keeping his eyes on the desk.

Rhys huffs the air out of his lungs. "Some of the guests have already arrived and instead of finding you and Gina, they find me." There's a hint of anger in his tone but Rhys knows better than raising his voice to his boss. "They need to see the Alpha", he adds, throwing himself on one of the chairs placed in front of the desk.

Wayne sighs, passing one hand through his hair as he straightens his back on the chair. "I need to make sure everything is ready."

A short laugh bursts out of Rhys' mouth. "Seriously? Do you want me to believe that you're looking like a piece of shit for the ceremony or the program? Don't play that on me. You worry because Ivory is sick."

Wayne's eyes glow momentarily at the mention of her name. An eyebrow shoots up, giving a questioning look to his features. "She's...what?"

"Victoria told me. Lola sent her to check on her." The tug in his heart, reflected in Wayne's face and he averted eye contact from his Beta. "And something tell me you know what she has."

"Shit..." Wayne whispers looking around him in confusion. Rhys was true, he knew what the reason was. But what he was calling arousal for his mate, she was calling it sickness. Maybe because she had never experienced such a feeling before.

Rhys leans forward, his elbows resting on his knees. "You can talk to me. You know I'm here for you." Rhys' voice is calm and soothing, the exact opposite of what it was when he stormed into the Alpha's office.

"I kissed her." Wayne sighs letting the air getting out of his lungs take the words away from his mouth.

Rhys gives an understanding nod. "So why the sad face?"

"It was supposed to be the happiest moment of my life. The moment that our bond starts to grow until we complete its forming when we become one. Instead, I feel like shit. Like the space in my heart is now filled but the piece is cracked."

Bringing his hands up, he rubs his face, hoping that this might help him concentrate. "She's mad with me Rhys. I hid her the truth and she's mad with me."

"I see why" Rhys comments, giving a look full of concern to his childhood friend. "You've already got Gina and a child, although you know my thoughts on the matter. Ivory is a High Priestess now, she cannot be mated... Man, you're in deep shit."

Wayne closed his eyes for a few moments, focusing on his breathing to gain concentration. It was true that Rhys was very expressive when he learned that Gina was pregnant with Wayne's child. He still remembers the way he dashed into his office, almost breaking the door. He was furious. He tried to convince Wayne to reject her. It was not that easy for their species to be blessed with offspring so soon. All of the couples have been struggling for years.

Rhys insisted that Gina was trying to dump her pregnancy on Wayne. That only a night with her was not possible to make her pregnant. However, the news had spread with incredible speed and left Wayne with no option but to receive responsibility and make Gina his mate and Luna of the pack. Even when the baby was born and had a significant resemblance to Wayne, Rhys was insisting on his opinion.

"I think you should go talk to her," Rhys speaks, breaking the silence between them. "She needs your help, Wayne. She doesn't know how to go through this and most probably she's terrified. You should be near her. Even if it hurts both of you."

Wayne huffed the air out of his nostrils with force, his shoulders dropped as Rhys' words were hitting the brain part of his reason. It was a moment that required the mates to be together - preferably mating all day and anywhere they could - but even being with her might ease both their desires.
