Ivory stands by the window of Wayne's bedroom, watching the sky over the forest change gradually, from an orange-pink to a purple-blue combination. Some spots are starting to glisten, the first stars, as night take its place on the celestial dome.
Her meeting with Wayne had been intercepted when Rhys knocked at the door, informing Wayne that his father - the Alpha - requested his attendance on an urgent matter. Wayne had reluctantly left his hands around her, promising to meet again when he finished with the tasks of the day.
After that, Rhys accompanied her to Lola's room where she was staying to keep an eye on Ivory's health. She wasn't allowed to get out of his house yet, and she kindly obliged. After her first shift, her body was going through a series of changes and she needed time to adjust.
"Your health improves rapidly!" Lola smiled taking the stethoscope away from Ivory's back. "Your wolf has offered a lot of help in your recovery, to be honest."
Ivory pushes the fabric of her shirt down and stands up from the bed. "Glad to know." she smiles turning to Lola, who's putting the examination tools back in their places.
"So, what is your vibe of this place?" Lola motions for Ivory to follow her and take a seat by the fireplace. Lola gives her a puzzled expression. "Sorry, I mean... do you like it here?" she adds fixing the woods in it before it put the small pile on fire.
Ivory sits in one of the chairs, throwing a brief look outside. "It is truly very nice. I'm glad I'm here," she speaks, barely audible. "If you wouldn't save me, I'm afraid I'll be probably dead by now."
Lola rushes to take the seat next to her. "Ivory, please don't think like that. It's over. You're here with us and you're safe." she tries to comfort her. "We had no idea that such a terrible thing was happening. And Wayne heard about it..."
Ivory's mouth falls open. "Wayne saved me?"
"Yes, Rhys helped too, but it was Wayne's idea. He wants to put a stop to these practices and it will be one of the many things about to change when he will be officially ascends to the position of the Alpha."
Ivory's lips tug slightly upwards, forming a smirk. "He will be a very good Alpha when the time comes."
"Do you like him?" Lola asks, anticipation sparkling in her eyes for the answer.
"He's a very good man and he will be a great leader. His so considerate of everyone. Even for me, that I wasn't a member of your pack, he gave me his word that nothing will happen to me. That he will personally bind himself to that promise. I may not know a lot about this, but I never heard any leader give such a promise to his people."
"So you like him." Lola smiles.
"Yes, I think I can trust him. It may be heard completely strange what I'm about to say, but there's something about him that makes you feel... safe."
"That's good. Very good."
When the shift was almost over, Lola didn't know where Ivory would spend the night. However, when Ivory mentioned that Wayne will meet her when he finishes his tasks, she thought the best place is to wait for him in his room.

"A what?! Son, you're not serious." Alpha Mason exclaims rising swiftly from his chair. Wayne stands tall and still, looking at his father with absolute assertiveness.
"I couldn't be more serious, father. I found my fated mate and she's an Omega." Wayne states loud and clear, staring at his father. His eyes are sharp, and he does not even blink.
