We are Getting so Warm

We were nearing the castle now, the sky as gray as ever. I felt myself shaking from the cold and the fear that was circling through my veins. Every bump and step of the horse made my head hurt and I looked over to my left to see Swiss on another guards horse. He looked at me and I could see him frown. I shook my head and just looked down in sorrow but this caused a throbbing pain to my face, I would try to heal it but I'm not strong enough to have self healing powers yet, so for now I had to suffer with a bruised face. I felt tears re-prick my eyes as the guard got off the horse and took a fist full of my hair and pulled me off the horse, I let out a cry of pain at the hair that was being pulled from my head.

"Don't hurt her!" Instructed Swiss angrily at the guard.

"My apologies your highness." The guard muttered annoyed.

We walked off with Swiss being free from the guards grasp, I wish I could say the same as the two guards held my arms so I couldn't break free. (I mean I could but I couldn't hurt these people.) We walked into the throne room to see two thrones with the bigger one in the middle and a smaller one to the right. Two people sat upon the thrones which I assume were Swiss's parents and two other people standing in between the thrones, I assume they are Swiss's siblings.

We got further in and I saw the woman on the smaller throne stand up and run over to Swiss.

"Oh! My son is home! My son is home!" She cried pulling him into a hug.

"Yes, I'm home, mother." He soothed rubbing his hand on her back. At this the guard coughed trying to bring attention to the other situation.

"Your highness, Prince Swiss was found in this witches house." The guard informed the king, he gasped at this. There was a new stiffness in his body, I could sense the shock and anger.

"Swiss, is this true!" His father scolded.

"It is father, but she is different! She took great care of me! I mean look at me, I'm all healthy." Swiss motioned to himself. His mother took a step back with a pause.

"He's right, dear. The witch didn't do anything harmful to him, I mean he's alive." She reasoned turning her head to the king.

"She is still a witch!" He called out. "And witches need to be killed for people's safety!" He scoffed.

"But father!" Cried Swiss. "She has done nothing wrong! At least give her the dungeons!" Pleaded Swiss.

"No-"

"If you keep her in the dungeons I'll get married!" Swiss butted in causing his two siblings to gasp. My eyes went wide at this.

Is he stupid? He was going to forced to get married no matter what. I thought to myself.

"Very well." Concluded the king. "Take her to the dungeons." And with that I was dragged out of the room and saw Swiss watching with a frown on his face. I brought down stairs to the cold damp dungeons.

The stone was gray and wet. There were no windows so the guards carried torches to illuminate the way down. When we got to the dungeons there were torches attached to the wall because there were no windows down here. My teeth chattered as the cold air hit my skin. I looked around as the guards guided me to the cell. There were some people in cells but it was clear that I was the only woman in here. One man was creepily staring at me with cold dead gray eyes. He was young (older then me though.) and lean and it was obvious that he was being starved by the way his eyes sunk into his skull. I had to force myself to look away from him so I didn't have to think about the future to come. I thought about Swiss and the woman that he has be married to. I didn't understand why but it hurt a little. I was going to miss him.

I wonder how long I'll be here before they kill me or I die on my own means.

"Here you are, witch." The guard spat and didn't bother undoing my handcuffs before throwing me into the cell (I assume it's because they think I need my arms to use my magic.) the impact caused me to fall to my knees on the hard stone. Tears pricked my eyes again as I turned around to see the guards locking the door and leaving.

"Make yourself comfortable because you're either in for life or getting killed tomorrow." The man from before rasped out. I turned to look at him and just nodded.

The cells were empty. Nothing was in here other then water that was on the floor. I laid my back against the wall however it was very uncomfortable due to the fact that my hands were stuck behind them. I would use my magic but the thought of doing that scared me. I grumbled in annoyance throwing my head back to hit the wall behind me, the tears started falling again but I made sure to not make a sound.

"Here, let me help." The man from before spoke up. "Come here." He said and I began to move myself over to the bars and turned around so he could undo the handcuffs. After a few seconds I felt the cool metal pop off my wrists.

"Oh my- thank you, sir!" I gasped felling free. "I'll make it up to you if I get out of here."

"No need to worry about that, I'm happy to help out." He gave a weak smile before it went quiet again.

"So, why are you in here? If you don't mind me asking if course." I asked the young man.

"Oh no problem, I was caught stealing food for my family." He sighed sadly. "I don't even know if they know I'm in here. I just wanted to feed them." He threw his head back as his voice was going higher as he was fighting back tears. It was silent for a second before speaking up again. "So I assume you're in here because you're a witch?"

"Yeah, that and I kept the prince in my house without turning him in. It wasn't my fault though, that he ran away."

"Why did he run away? Do you know?" He asked curiously.

"He is getting married off and he doesn't like the woman he's supposed to marry." I told him and he nodded.

"I'm James by the way." He offered his hand through the bar to shake.

"(Y/n)" I shook his hand and his eyes went wide.

"I know you, you ran away from our old town! God those people looked for weeks hoping you just stayed in the woods!" He exasperated. I rubbed the back of my neck awkwardly.

"I- uh um- yeah." Was all I could get out.

"Honestly I'm impressed. I left shortly after that because the people in that town are crazy."

"Oh believe me, I know." I giggled at his statement.

"Sorry I don't mean to go back to the last topic, but how did you manage to get way from getting killed if you kept the prince in your house?" He asked.

"I didn't keep him there, he just kinda showed up one day and just stayed there. Swiss was able to convince his father to not kill me."

"Wow good for you." He smiled but he quickly stopped when we could hear steps coming down and some voices talking.

"Are you really going to keep her here, your highness?" A voice squeaked out scared.

"I'm afraid I have to if I want Swiss to listen to me. That's why I'm trusting you to watch over her Rain." It was the king.

"Very well sir."

"I'm sure she won't hurt you, she doesn't look like she would so you're going to be fine, but if she does let me know immediately." The king informed the other man who I assumed was Rain. They finally turned the corner and I could see them. The king then pointed at me but looked right past me like I wasn't even there. "This is where she is." He spoke as if I wasn't there and I could see the person next to him who had the same mask as Swiss nod and look at me. "Remember if anything happens let me know." He king said to the man.

"Of course sir."

"I'll let you start now, I'll see you tomorrow Rain." And with that he left. I looked over at Rain and just stared at him. He looked like Swiss just shorter and more timid.

"Where is Swiss?" I asked the man.

"Uh- I don't know if I could tell you." He whispered out clearly scared of me. I just nodded before resting my head on the wall again before trying to sleep.
